Kerrigan, Janniro Red-Line It at Auburn!

AUBURN, CABilly Janniro vs Kelly Kerrigan at Fast Fridays 2008 0828

It was a great night of racing for Red Line Oil-sponsored riders, as Billy Janniro (above left) and Kelly Kerrigan (above right) swept the main events with wins on Friday night at Fast Friday Motorcycle Speedway.Billy Janniro at Fast Fridays 2008 0828

Billy Janniro (above) continued on his Scratch main-event winning streak, running away with his 11th Scratch main win of the season; this was the fifth week in a row he's been the fastest man of the night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds track. Janniro drew lane one for the finale and got the best gate, just ahead of Bryan Yarrow out of lane three, Kenny Ingalls in lane two, and Charlie Venegas in lane four. Both Venegas and Yarrow were having great nights, so Janniro had his work cut out for him. Janniro got to turn one first and worked the inside and middle lanes aggressively. Venegas went down on the first lap in turn four, leaving Yarrow and Ingalls to give chase, but Billy Janniro (below left) held off Bryan Yarrow (below right) and took the checkered flag first.Billy Janniro vs Bryan Yarrow at Fast Fridays 2008 0828

Kelly Kerrigan picked up some back yardage with his first 2009 season Handicap main-event win at Fast Fridays. The Vallejo, California, resident will now be starting on the 10-yard line as he tries for a repeat next week.

"I feel like I've got a good rhythm going, and let's see if we can put together another win off the 10-yard line next week," said Kerrigan.

Two restarts for rolling starts put four riders back in the Twilight Zone, with Janniro on the 60-yard line, leaving Kerrigan on the zero and Alex Marcucci on the 20 as the Handicap main got under way. Kerrigan stood his ground while Janniro worked his way through the pack, giving him some pressure, but the back-yardage difference was too much to make up and Janniro had to settle for second place. It was an impressive ride for Kerrigan.

September 4 is the final night for riders to accumulate season track points, as the racers head into the track championships on September 11, when 16 of the top points winners in Division One will vie for the Fast Fridays track championship. Bart Bast still leads all Division One riders, with 2,015 points going into Friday's action. Janniro follows with 1,813 and Charlie Venegas has 1,188.

The Division Two main was won by Daniel Faria. Second was Danny Poli, and third was Danny Turner.

Division Three was won by Billy Vaughn, who was followed by Kjell Lovlien in second and Dan Turner in third.Tyler Kane 95 at Fast Fridays 2008 0828

The Division One Youth main was won by Meadow Vista's Tanner Kane (95, above). Second was Tyler Warren, and third was P.J. Byrne.
