Speedway bikes returned to Indy after a one-year hiatus. Replacing the old tight bullring on the west side of town were the big, wide-open turns at the Marion County Fairgrounds on the east side of Indianapolis. Chicago club rider Weislaw Oskiewicz dominated again at Indy to win round two.

Oskiewicz won all four of his heat races to advance to the A main. Former Indy champions Joe Garrison and Todd Eads put on a great show in their heat race, with Eads winning it in a photo finish. That kept Garrison from matching Oskiewicz's perfect score in the heats. Paul "Kamikaze" Huggins put in some consistent rides with three wins and a second to advance to the A main along with "Wild Wesley O," Garrison and Eads.

In the A main, Oskiewicz led the first lap from gate one, with Huggins staying close from gate three. By the third of four laps, Oskiewicz had pulled away for the win. Huggins finished in second, ahead of Garrison and Eads.

Brandon Fesselmeyer won the B main from gate one, with Jim Terchila finishing in second, ahead of Dan Weicht. Barry Benkert Jr. was styling it up in fourth.

First-time speedway rider Ricky Leak was impressive in his heat races, at one time battling with Huggins for the lead before he had a close call with Brandon Fesselmeyer on the back stretch and had to run high in turn three, losing a few positions.

Leak won the C main. David Weicht and Preston Dorfmeyer battled hard for second, with Weicht getting second, ahead of Dorfmeyer. Cory Eads was running strong before he fell, ultimately finishing fourth.

After two races, it appears that Sideway Saturdays at Indy is alive and well again on a new track. Races will run through October. Mid-America will run a Friday night race on September 12 in conjunction with the Moto GP at the Brickyard.
