Round 2: Lincoln Park Speedway

Fesselmeyer Stays Unbeaten at Lincoln Park

PUTNAMVILLE, IN

With the closing of Indianapolis National Speedway, riders in the Midwest were in need of a track to accommodate their Speedway bikes. With the help of Jim Terchila and Eddie Kelley, a deal was struck with Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana, just southwest of Indy. They were able to construct a track similar in size to the INS track in the infield of the LPS.

Round two saw B.J. Fesselmeyer dominating all four heat races and the A main to remain unbeaten at Lincoln Park Speedway. The Bloomington Harley-Davidson rider seemed right at home on the rough track as he found the smooth way around the top of the track.

The 2006 INS champion, Todd Eads, won two of his four heat races. Also winning two of the four heat races was 2006 Rookie of the Year ice racer Paul Huggins. Eads and Huggins would each earn 10 points to advance to the A main. Fesselmeyer won all four of his heat races, earning 12 points for gate one in the main. Terchila made the final spot in the A main.

Fesselmeyer pulled the holeshot in the A main, as Eads got a wheelstand from gate three. This allowed Huggins to grab second place; he was hoping to make a move on Fesselmeyer. After the first lap, Fesselmeyer was riding the high line and making no mistakes. Huggins held on to second place. Eads recovered from his bad start to finish in third, ahead of Terchila.

Aaron Nichols won the B main, ahead of young gun Cory Eads. Rod Cowell and Gabor Kucsera rounded out the top four.
