Final Round: Indianapolis National Speedway

Eads Dominates Indy Final

INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Todd Eads (20) stayed hot on a cold night at Indy, winning the main event as well as the Last Man Standing shootout and wrapping up the overall championship for Division One. Jim Terchila finished second in the evening's main event, with Central USA Champion rider Wesley Oskiewicz in third and Dan Weicht fourth.

Division Two had a first-time winner, as Kevin Munro took the victory after a restart. B.J. Fesselmeyer, who locked up the Division Two title a week earlier, was right behind in second, followed by Chicago Club rider Arthur Taraska. Jerry Huff, who was involved in a horrendous crash with Taraska entering turn three in the final heat race, was unable to finish the main after his engine quit.

Chance Hardman got back to his winning ways by taking the Division Three main-event win, followed by young gun Cory Eads, Ron Okamoto and Pitor Sutkowski.

The Last Man Standing race was comprised of Todd Eads, Terchila, Oskiewicz, Dan Weicht, and Division Two winner Munro. In the first race, Munro forgot to turn his fuel on; then Oskiewicz went down. Oskiewicz survived by completing more of the first lap than Munro, who was eliminated. Terchila was the next victim, followed by Oskiewicz.

The last round would stage Eads against the previous week's Last Man Standing winner, Weicht. Eads pulled the holeshot and never looked back on his way to the win and $100. The other riders received $25 apiece for their efforts. Drew's Motorcycle Service and Bobby "Boogaloo" Swartz put up $100 each, with a signed Bobby Swartz photograph going to each of the participants.

The Chicago Club defeated the Indy team in the final Speedway match race to conclude the 2006 season. There was no purse in this final event. The intent was to introduce the fans and riders to team racing. There is a good chance we will see more team racing at Indy in 2007.

After the races, trophies were awarded for year-end winners in all the classes, on this chilly night at the "Racing Capitol of The World." The efforts of Dean Knipp, Rik Smits, Brian Gaines, Rick Dorfmeyer and all the volunteers who put on a great season of racing in 2006 are much appreciated.
