TORCS
Round 4: Three Palms Extreme Park

Kirkpatrick Hands Down at Three Palms

CONROE, TX

Three Palms Extreme Park is known for its great facility and staff, and that staff did not let down the TORCS group on this race weekend. They had sections called "Mulch Hill," "Vietnam" and "Normandy Beach." The loop had a great old-school motocross track that is called the "woods track," which had fun off-cambers and sweeping, big berms that riders could just rail along.

In the 65cc B class, KTM-mounted Ryan Shea held off a hard-charging Alex Hennage for the win. Hennage got the early lead and held that spot for two laps until Shea made the move and put a small gap on him. He took that lead all the way to the finish - and his first win of the year.2010 0424 Three Palms TORCS 4 Riley Johnson 42

The 50cc (7-8) and 50cc Open classes saw a trading of places on the top of the box. TJ's Cycle-backed KTM jockey Riley Johnson (42, above) took the win in Saturday's 50cc (7-8) contest, with MSR-backed KTM rider Drex Wilson right on him until the very end. The next day, the 50cc Open class saw Wilson pass Johnson for the win.

The Pro One-Hour clash saw Shift/Kawasaki rider Tracy Cloy stall his bike off the start. That didn't matter, as he ran down the field on the first lap and went on to take the win. Answer Yamaha rider Martin Howell ran some great laps, but Cloy was on fire, putting a two-minute gap on Howell by the end of the race.

Wild West /KTM Racing's Dan Sell took the Masters Over 40 A win, over Beta rider Ken Ingram in second and Houston Motorsports-sponsored KTM rider Rob Gaines in third. Sell, however, did not take the win in his Saturday Open A race, as KTM-mounted Devin Wilkerson passed Sell on lap four and put a 45-second gap on him for the his first win over Sell for the year.2010 0424 Three Palms TORCS 4 Cole Kirkpatrick 29

The premier Pro class' 17-man gate was stacked. Yamaha-mounted Clayton Miller got the holeshot, with Moose/Clockwork Mods-backed KTM rider Cole Kirkpatrick (29, right) hot on his heels throughout lap one. Kirkpatrick made quick work of Miller and laid it down, putting in the fastest lap of the day and winning by more than three minutes. Kent Powersports Honda jockey Jason Doyle started his first lap in sixth, but he steadily charged all the way up to the second spot on the podium. Following him and battling throughout the race was MCP Kawasaki rider Josh Young, who took the last spot on the podium, never letting Doyle breathe the entire time.

The next race will be held at a brand-new venue - Abbott Ranch. Check out torcsracing.com for more info.
