CEDAR CREEK, TX

The last round of the year rocked! The course was awesome, with a lot of new sections and added trail that crossed the road - trail not ridden on by the TORCS riders. TORCS owners Gil and Jackie Ramos knows how to put on races, making this the best off-road series in south Texas. This event had tight parking quarters, which made everyone was a lot closer to one another, but everyone seemed to be in a good mood!

Starting with some championship battles, the Over 40 B class had a good one, as Charles Covill and Rob Gaines had a close points battle going between them coming into this race. Covill took the lead on lap one, but Gaines stayed close for three laps. Then Covill opened it up and took the win - but the TORCS championship for 2009 went to Gaines, who went second for the day. This was Gaines' second TORCS championship this year, as he won the Open B class as well.

Another double TORCS championship rider was Dan Sell, who took the win in both the Over 40 A and Open A classes. Sell was bested on the day by his old rival Steve Cardwell, who made the move to a KTM 300 and took his second win of the year, moving him into the third spot overall for the year.

In the Pro class, MSR/Kawasaki rider Caleb Ramsey (above center) got the holeshot and checked out, but behind him, it was mayhem! Shift Racing's Tracy Cloy completed the first lap in second spot, followed by Central Texas Powersports rider Josh Young, tjsktm.com/MSR rider Brian Johnson (above right), and Cycle Nation rider Austin Miller. On the next lap, Cloy found himself behind all of these riders, while Moose/KTM Rider Cole Kirkpatrick (above left) moved from seventh to second. The next lap, Johnson moved up to third, and following him were Austin Boney, Cheyenne Harmon and Shawn O'Leary. On lap four, Johnson crashed, and Boney, Harmon and O'Leary got by. That order changed as Harmon and Boney both faded after their respective pit stops, allowing Johnson and O'Leary to get by. This led to a flat-out battle over third place between Johnson and O'Leary that lasted all the way to the finish. On the last lap, rains came and made the track very slick, which saw Johnson and O'Leary now locked in a "turtle race" to the finish. Johnson came out on top, with O'Leary right on his tail. Brad Kammer came from a dead-last start to take a hard-earned fifth. Jeff O'Leary finished sixth on the day.
