Wednesday night and early Thursday morning brought rain, but then the skies opened up and brought sunshine and blue skies for round 10 of the Texas Off-Road Championship Series on October 24 and 25. The TORCS crew worked very hard to make the race happen, and all of that work paid off with a great race weekend. TORCS puts on a Halloween contest every year at this round, and it was a lot of fun, with costumes and pumpkin carving. The conditions were great, which meant the racing was going to be good as well.

In the Pro class, Power Bar/Fly rider Devon Coetzer checked out on the first lap with a 20-second lead. After that, he was untouchable, extending his lead and winning the class by a minute. Behind him, it was another story. In second on the first lap was Central Texas Powersports rider Josh Young, who was followed by TJSKTM.com/Enterprise rider Jeff O'Leary for four laps until MSR rider Brian Johnson caught both of them. Johnson followed O'Leary until a creek crossing, in which O'Leary crashed hard, allowing Johnson to go by. Not long after that, on the same lap, Young fell in a corner, allowing Johnson by.

Johnson, now running in second, had a new rival behind him: Moose/Yamaha rider Cody Potts. When Potts came into pit row, that gave Johnson a 10-second lead - but that would only hold for two laps, and then Potts made the pass in the fun grass-track section. Johnson tried to stay with Potts, but Potts finished in second. Devon Coetzer (below, center) topped the rostrum, Cody Potts (right) was runner-up and Brian Johnson (left) took the last spot on the podium.

In the 250F A class, Ian Brown got out front and started to check out, but on lap four his seat fell off and he had to pit to remount it. Class points leader Chris Chipman took the lead after that lap, followed by Jordan McKinney. Chipman led McKinney to the finish. JS Racing's Jordan Gonzales rounded out the podium; Gonzales had a great weekend, winning the Supermini class on Sunday.

Kawasaki rider Clay Hoenshell won the Vet Over 30 A class, followed by Jimbo Morton from Houston. TJ's Cycle rider Lance Haley took the last spot on the podium after getting no practice and a dead-last start. Haley had some tough riders to get around, as Michael Peacock held the old Pro champion off for four laps.

The next round will be at Powell Ranch on November 7 and 8; it will be a make-up race for round nine. For more info, go to torcsracing.com.
