Round 10: Dade City MX

Keylon Takes the Three Keys

DADE CITY, FL

Hot conditions greeted the riders at round 10 of the Monster Energy Sponsors Cup Championship Series. A new track layout produced some of the fastest lap times of the season. Butler Brother's Kyle Keylon took the three most important keys of the night: He posted the fastest lap time of the night in practice, he won the first moto, and he won the second moto.

The first moto saw Kyle Keylon absconding with the holeshot, followed by Tyler Livesay, Michael Picone and Iowa's Gavin Faith. Jason Thomas took over fourth when Faith fell and then pressured Picone before falling himself. Next, it was Kissimmee Motorsports' Kory Keylon's time to try and pass Picone, which he did. At the checkers, Kyle had pulled out a couple of seconds over Pit Stop Graphix/Oakley/WMI's Livesay. Kory took third, Picone was fourth, and Thomas recovered for fifth.2010 0626 Dade City MX Kyle Keylon 130 vs Jason Thomas 62

The second moto started with Thomas in the lead, followed by Kyle Keylon, Livesay, Kory Keylon, and Faith. Kyle Keylon (130, above) passed Jason Thomas (62) for the lead on lap two and pulled out about three seconds over the three-rider battle for second among Thomas, Livesay and Kory. Meanwhile, Forrest Smith and Jerry Kopoian were tussling for fifth. Thomas closed the gap on Kyle, leaving Livesay and Kory to battle for third. Kopoian and Ian Millett got by Smith, setting up a battle for a top-five finish.

In the closing laps, Livesay broke away from Kory as they ran into lapped traffic. Kyle went on to take the moto win and the overall on the night. Livesay closed the gap on Thomas but could not make a move, and the two rounded out the podium. Kory was a lonely fourth. The start of the last lap saw Millett making an aggressive move on Kopoian to take fifth.

Vincent Valente continued his four-race win streak in the 50 (4-6) A Stock class. Valente took the second-moto win and the tie breaker for the overall from Dylan Varn. Nolen Huston rounded out the podium with a 4-3 score, over Cameron Trommater's 3-4 finishes.

Valente started another streak in the 50 (4-6) Modified class by winning his second race in a row. Valente topped both motos, over Trommater.

Barney's Rocket Racing's Nicolas Rego took his fourth win a row in the 65 (9-11) B class. Michael Orlowski took two thirds for the runner-up position. Cassie Henry scored better in the second moto to take third overall with her 6-4 score, over Ethan Lewandowski's 2-8 tally. O'Neal/Scott/Acerbis-sponsored Morgan Johnson rounded out the top five with 7-5 finishes.2010 0626 Dade City MX Bodie Colangelo 43

Six Twelve's Bodie Colangelo (43) took a hard-fought win in the Supermini class. Colangelo won the first moto, over Cameron Goins and Kyle Vernon. In the second moto, Goins got the holeshot, and it looked like he might take the win. A three-rider battle for the lead ensued among Goins, Hunter Chandler and Colangelo. In the end, Colangelo won it with a last-lap pass over Goins.
