GMXA B.I.G. (Best In Georgia) Championship MX Series
Round 4: Aonia Pass Motocross Park

Dunn, Morse, Burkeen Head 'em Off at the Pass

WASHINGTON, GA

The competition at round four of the B.I.G. (Best In Georgia) MX Championship Series was ratcheted up a notch, due to the numerous AMA Youth-division hopefuls on hand, looking to experience the Aonia facility in a raceday setting prior to the AMA/Loretta Lynn Southeast Youth Regional Championship, scheduled to run at this facility just two weeks hence.

As it turned out, the setting was a muddy one, as the track was hit by heavy rain the night before the race. Start time was delayed slightly while track builder Greg Cole and his crew scraped off most of the wet stuff, putting the track back into race-worthy condition. Riders from eight states turned out, and it was a pleasure to see riders from the various southeastern states match wheels with some of the Georgia B.I.G. Series regulars!2010 0530 Aonia Pass Justin Dunn 45

Local ace Mason Beasley was in the thick of it as he battled to a third-place finish, behind Justin Dunn (45, above) and Josh Guffey, in the opening 85cc (9-11) round. Beasley got another good start in moto two, only to crash during the early going. Beasley was sidelined with a broken collarbone, while North Carolina's Dunn cruised to a perfect score, over Bainbridge, Georgia's Guffey (2-2). Series leader Jordan Camarata claimed the final podium step via his 4-3 finishes.2010 0530 Aonia Pass Colby Morse 28 vs Matt Burkeen 820

The 85cc (12-15) contest was a thriller, as Colby Morse (28, above), Brad Turpin and Matt Burkeen (820) wrestled for the point position in both motos. The start of moto one set the mood, as the lead changed hands at each of the first five turns. North Carolina's Morse (2-1) emerged with the overall victory, over Turpin (1-3) and Burkeen (3-2).

Burkeen returned to win the Supermini class, over Turpin, and the 85cc (9-13) division, over Dunn.

The large and hard-fought 65cc (7-9) division saw Florida's Cole Williams come out on top after sharing moto wins with runner-up Josh Strickland of North Carolina. Brewer Cawley was third.

South Carolina's Ryan Pruett dominated the 50cc Shaft-Drive class with a pair of convincing moto wins. Meanwhile, series rivals Jerumiah LaCombe and Sabastian Burnette brawled for the silver. During their wild second-moto dice, LaCombe and Burnette traded second back and forth multiple times. Then, with the checkered flag in sight, LaCombe made a pass in the final turn, taking second, ahead of Burnette, in a close finish. LaCombe thus pocketed the silver. Burnette still leads the series, however, just two points ahead of LaCombe.2010 0530 Aonia Pass Jesse Muchiarone 221 vs Nick Barr 86

After an extended layoff due to injuries, South Carolina's Jesse Muchiarone (221, above, following early leader Chad Slater, 22) has made a strong comeback. In fierce 250cc C racing, Muchiarone came from behind to win both motos. Series leader Nick Barr (86) claimed both holeshots but had to settle for the runner-up honors via his 3-2 tally, over Zack Corbin (4-3). Muchiarone also won the 450cc C division.

Nick Kimsey and Zack Crosby battled closely for the point in both 450cc B motos. Kimsey held the edge for both moto wins, ahead of series leader Crosby.
