BOSTWICK, FL
Bostwick Creek MX Park hosted its second round of the Florida/Georgia Sports Committee Spring Series. For round five, the track was in excellent condition and the weather was hot and sunny. The racing was hot as well, as Beach Boulevard Motorsports/Christopher Bean Coffee's Cole McLean (31, below) cleaned up with two wins, in the 250 C and 105-250F (12-15) classes.
McLean led the first 250 C moto from start to finish. Power Wheels of Longwood's Lewis Dellarco challenged for the lead but ended up second at the end. Bostwick Motocross' Jason Letellier moved up to third, passing Patrick West and Michael Clemente before the halfway mark. Thor's Hunter Harbin put on a charge from 10th place to finish fourth, and Clemente rounded out the top five.
McLean did the same in moto two, taking the sweep, and extending his points lead to 30 over Dellarco with two rounds remaining. Letellier fought off a hard-charging Harbin for second. Clemente took fourth, and Deep South Kawasaki's Alistair Prentice took a well-deserved fifth.
The McLean show continued in the 105-250F (12-15) class: He led every lap. Dellarco was challenging the leader in the first moto until his bike broke. Letellier took the runner-up position in both motos. Clemente, Devin Landry, and Prentice battled for the last podium spot. Clemente wound up with it, going 3-4. Landry went 5-3, over Prentice's 4-5 finishes.
The racing was hot in the 85cc divisions. Colton Eigenmann (815, above) and Joshua Guffy (98) went back and forth in the 85 (7-11) and (9-13) contest, with each one winning a class. In the first 85 (9-13) moto, Spaceport Cycles' Guffy got the jump on teammate Eigenmann to take the win. Beach Boulevard's Cody Holdeman took third, over Lifetime Enclosures' Zack Briar and Chad Stonier. Eigenmann took control in the second moto and held off Guffy to the finish. Holdeman was third, and Dawson Stark moved up to fourth. Stonier rounded out the top five.
Eigenmann topped the first 85 (7-11) moto, over Guffy. In the second moto, Guffy passed Eigenmann to take the overall. Holdeman rounded out the podium with 3-3 finishes.
Trevor Brown is on a three-race win streak in the 250 D class. Brown ran away with both motos. Brandon Kent used consistency to take second overall with two third-place finishes. Third overall went to Amsoil's Gordon Hale, with a 4-4 tally. Russell Heggan ran into trouble in the first moto and took eighth but battled back in the second moto for second. Rounding out the top five was Decal Work's Mason Middlebrook, with a 5-5 score.
Ashlee Applewhite took over the points lead in the Girls'/Women's class. Her 1-1 score was good enough for a one-point lead over Beck's Tech's Tracy Forward's 2-3 tally. Third overall went to Chelsey Ward (5-2), over O'Neal/Twin Air-sponsored Morgan Johnson (4-4) and Cycle Gear's Shelby Krech (3-5).
The fastest rider on the day was Donald Solley (115, above), who took the 450 A and Open Money victories with double-moto wins.
