Florida Georgia Sports Committee Spring Series
Round 4: Motocross of Marion County

Sowerby Strikes at Reddick!

REDDICK, FL

Round four of the Florida Georgia Sports Committee Spring Series was held at the beautiful Motocross of Marion County facility. Typical hot weather greeted the riders, but the track workers kept the track in excellent condition. A.J. Sowerby (29, below) took double-moto wins in the 250 C and 450 C classes.2010 0516 MX of Marion County AJ Sowerby 29

Sowerby took the point position in the first 450 C moto and led it to the finish. Ride Now Powersports' John Iannce outdueled Brendan Hammond for second. Jesse Shiflett came from out of the pack to take fourth, and Aaron Browning rounded out the top five.

Sowerby led the second moto from start to finish. Shiflett took second after trying to keep Sowerby in sight. Hammond and Iannce went at it again, with Iannce getting the nod for the last podium spot. Devin McEwen made a late-race charge to fifth.

Sowerby struck in the first 250 C moto and never looked back. Power Wheels of Longwood's Lewis Dellarco took his 125 two-stroke to second. Cycle Gear's Brent Ashworth was third, and series regular Jason Frank held on to fourth. Beach Boulevard Motorsports' Cole McLean had a midpack start, but the series leader raced through the pack to take fifth.

Sowerby looked unstoppable in the second 250 C moto en route to his fourth moto win. Dellarco took another second. McLean started fourth but worked his way past Cody Jenkins for third. Ashworth rounded out the top five.2010 0516 MX of Marion County Lewis Dellarco 58

Lewis Dellarco (58, above) was also a double-moto winner, in the 105-250F (12-15) class. Devon Viera led the first moto. Dellarco passed for the lead, taking the win, over Viera. Dellarco led the second moto from start to finish, and Viera followed him home in second. A battle for the last podium spot between four riders was a good one; Cole McLean ended up taking it with a 4-3 score. Austin Collins pushed his 150cc machine too the limits and went 3-5 for fourth. Cody Jenkins took fifth overall with 6-4 finishes, over Brent Ashworth's 5-6 tally.2010 0516 MX of Marion County Ray Leybovich 376

The fast man on the track was Ray Leybovich (376, right), who garnered the Open Money and 450 A victories. Leybovich took a convincing win in the first Open Money moto, over Carbon Fiber Works' Cole Studstill. Series leader Jeffrey Tyson rounded out the podium. The second moto was more of the same for Leybovich. Tyson started second, but Studstill passed him on lap two, and the top three were set.

Van Slabicki won the first moto of the 50 Open class. Nolen Huston passed Treven Rogero early for second. Rogero slowly dropped down the order, as Tanner walker rose up to third. Nolen got the lead in the second moto and took the win. Walker held on to second. Slabicki suffered from a bad start and got third on the last lap, over Alex De Almeida.

Consistency was the key in the 50 Beginner class. Seth Whiddon went 3-2 for the overall win. Kyle Smith took a 1-4 score, over Peyton Penland's 4-3 finishes.
