Round 3: Washougal Motocross Park

Alldredge in Overdrive at Washougal!

WASHOUGAL, WA2010 0516 Washougal MX Chris Alldredge 588

Yamaha-mounted Oregonian Chris Alldredge (588, above) made the trek from Powell Butte a successful one, as the current minicycle speedster, who has been posting impressive results nationally, netted three overall wins at Washougal Motocross Park, site of round three of the AMA District 27 MX Series. On this day, Alldredge won the 85 (12-15), Supermini (12-16) and Schoolboy (12-16) classes, all via 1-1 sweeps.

Alyas Wardius was equally impressive, as the Honda rider captured the overall 250 and Open B class victories. Wardius walloped the competition - just as he has done the two races prior to this event - and once again finished amid the Pro riders, despite coming from the second wave of competitors some 20 seconds back.

Speaking of Pro riders, Russia's Serge Astaykin made it three consecutive Open Pro victories in three races thus far. Astaykin bolted to the head of the field in both motos and had an easy time winning both contests.

Fellow foreign rider Roman Morozov, a resident of the Ukraine, wasn't far off Astaykin's pace, including a good run in the second Open Pro moto, in which he ran a sold second to his fellow Kawasaki rider until he got out of shape in the whoops and lost two places. Both Austin Ullrich and Trevor Brooks got by Morozov just before the finish line to drop Morozov to third overall, behind Astaykin (1-1) and Ullrich (2-2). Wardius won both adjoined B-class motos with a 1-1 sweep, followed by Cody Boehmer (2-2) and Montana's Dwight Dillon, who ran solidly in the top three in the opening moto and backed up that performance with a fourth-place finish in moto two.

Neither Astaykin not Morozov competed in the 250 Pro class. It was Ullrich's Suzuki-supported RM that ran at the head of the field in both motos, with exception of the start of moto two, in which he trailed fellow Oregonians Erick Meusling and Pete Sannan for two laps before assuming the lead and finishing out front. Sannan and Nic Wolfer, both riding two-strokes, placed second and third overall, respectively. Wardius again captured both B-class motos to finalize his day, ahead of Julian Doane (2-3) and Dillon, who placed second to Wardius in moto two and netted third overall for a pair of top-three finishes on the day for the Suzuki rider from Lakeside, Montana.

Alldredge, a Yamaha support rider, went one step further than Wardius by topping three classes overall. Alldredge's first win on the day came in the 85 age-group contest, in which he led from start to finish in both motos and finished ahead of Suzuki rider Conner Mitchell and Yamaha jockey Matthew Shirley.

It was nearly the same in the Supermini class: He again won both motos, ahead of Mitchell and Cody Herzog. Honda-mounted Ryan Miranda was the only rider to put a wheel ahead of Alldredge on the day, this coming in the Schoolboy class, but Miranda's lead didn't last long, as Alldredge took the lead on the opening lap and went on to a 1-1 victory. Wyatt Fowler and Miranda rounded out the top three.
