Florida/Georgia Sports Committee Spring Series
Round 3: Pax Trax MX Park

Hodges Makes It a Habit

BUNNELL, FL2010 0509 Pax Trax Hannah Hodges 172

The third round of the Florida/Georgia Sports Committee Spring Series raced at the beautiful track of Pax Trax on Mother's Day Weekend. One mother was proud of her daughter, Hannah Hodges (172, above). The Beach Boulevard Motorsports/Michelin/Scott-sponsored rider always comes to Pax Trax, signs up for three classes, and wins all three classes. Hodges won all six motos in the 65 Open, 85 (7-11) and Girls/Women's classes. The competition was hot, as was the weather.

Hodges had little trouble in any class. Her best competition came in the 85 class. Hodges started out with the lead, with Cody Holdeman, Dawson Stark and Justin Hendrix right behind her. Holdeman stayed right there until they started catching up to the 85 (12-15) riders, who had started first. Holdeman reeled Hodges back in late in the race, but by then it was too late. Hodges took the first-moto win, over Holdeman. Stark and Hendrix battled right to the end, with Stark taking the last podium position.

In the second moto, Hodges jumped out front and immediately put some distance on the rest of the field. Holdeman had his hands full with Stark and Hendrix. Hodges cruised to the moto win over Holdeman, series leader Stark, and Hendrix.

The 250 D class was full, as always. The first moto saw Trevor Brown take the lead, followed by Staci Woodrum, Redline Powersports' Cody Wacter, Amsoil's Gordon Hall, and North Jaxs Motorsports' Zach Yommer. Brown kept the lead the entire moto, as the pack shuffled back and forth behind him. Yommer was the one on the move, as he made it to second by the halfway flags. Yommer could not close the gap, and Brown took the win, over Yommer. Wacter made a last-lap pass on Woodrum to take third, and Hale rounded out the top five.

The second moto saw Brown take the lead. This time Russell Heggan was second, followed by Wacter, Woodrum and Will Barber. Brown won the moto, and the rest of the top five stayed the same.2010 0509 Pax Trax James Nagy 11

Series regular James Nagy (11, above) put his experience to the test and won the Over 35 and 40 classes. In the Over 35 class, Nagy took both moto wins, over Preston Tyson (3-2) and Steve Nagy (2-3) scores. James took both wins in the Over 40 class, ahead of Mark Shields (3-2) and John Parker (2-3).

Seth Whiddon took over the points lead in the 50 Beginner class with double-moto wins. Whiddon led both motos from start to finish. In the first moto, Jacob Spong moved from fourth to second, and Kyle Smith took third. Walker Whiddon was fourth, and Cypress Truck Lines' River Penland rounded out the top five. Smith took second in the second moto, over Walker Whidden. Penland moved up to fourth, and Chance Wiggins was fifth.

As always, fast local rider Cody Smith is the one to beat on the big bikes. Smith took double-moto wins in the Open Amateur and 16-29 classes.
