BINGHAMTON, NY
Round four of the Northeast Classic Motocross Series, hosted by Hurd Motorsports at the beautiful Broome-Tioga Sports Center, featured an added day of racing. The Northeast Classic Warmup Race gives riders a chance to pre-run the course and become familiar with the layout and terrain, with less pressure than they would experience on an actual Northeast Classic race day. Kawasaki pilot Jacob Beaudoin (524, below) topped the podium of the 85cc (9-11) class in dominant fashion, taking both moto wins with very substantial leads.
Dawson Driscoll, Beaudoin, Justin Yedinak, Justin Tompkins and Cole Clark led the start of the opening moto. Beaudoin took the point in the front rhythm section, relegating Driscoll to second. Beaudoin had a five-second lead at the start of lap two, and that continued to increase until it reached 15 seconds at the white flag. Beaudoin took the checkered flag 16 seconds ahead of Driscoll in second. Yedinak, Tompkins and Justin Beaudoin closed out the top five.
Driscoll, Tompkins, Yedinak and Jacob Beaudoin led the pack out of the switchback first turn in the final moto. Jacob quickly diced his way to the front and took over the point position just before the start of lap two. Driscoll was relegated to second. Tompkins, Yedinak and Clark rounded out the top five. Tompkins went down in the last corner of lap two, and Yedinak was trapped behind Tompkins' downed bike. Clark inherited third, Justin Beaudoin fourth and Cody Laughlin fifth.
Jacob Beaudoin continued to gap the field and started lap three with a 12-second advantage. Yedinak remounted in sixth but quickly diced his way back to third by the checkered flag. Jacob Beaudoin got another easy win, with Driscoll, Yedinak, Clark and Justin Beaudoin in tow.
Jacob topped the podium, Driscoll took the runner-up tier with a consistent 2-2 tally, and Yedinak (3-3) completed the rostrum.
Dustin Larson, John Thierfelder, Sonia Williams, Christopher Ray and Brandon Aldrich led the start of the first Open C moto. Thierfelder quickly passed Larson to secure the lead by the fourth turn. Larson was displaced to second. Thierfelder had a five-second advantage over Larson at the start of lap two. Ray, Aldrich and Williams completed the top five. Thierfelder took the win with a 12-second lead. Larson, Ray, Aldrich and Marko Novosec followed.
John Thierfelder (25, above), Dustin Larson (161) and Sonia Williams (421) led the start of the final Open C moto, followed by Salvatore Colangelo. Thierfelder pulled away again, starting lap two with a six-second lead, and the top four remained unchanged. Ray was now fifth. Thierfelder increased his advantage to nine seconds by lap three and 16 at the checkered flag. Larson, Ray, Williams and Aldrich completed the top five.
Thierfelder (1-1) topped the podium. Larson (2-2) took second and Ray (3-3) third.
