AMA District 14 Motocross Series
Round 2: Battle Creek Motorcycle Club

Ughetti Unbeatable at Battle Creek MC

BATTLE CREEK, MI2010 0424 BCMC Cole Ughetti 191

Round two of the AMA District 14 Motocross Series was on tap at the Battle Creek Motorcycle Clubgrounds, and while the weather played a big part in the turnout, the BCMC was thrilled to have all the guys and girls out in the pits. In the Open B class, Cole Ughetti (191, above) ruled the roost, grabbing a pair of wins on his way to the overall victory.

In the first Open B moto, Cory Wilk grabbed the holeshot aboard his RM450 to lead the field through the sandy S turns and out to the back of the track. Ughetti wasted no time attaching himself to Wilk's rear fender, and the two Cereal City cyclists went to war. Ughetti put the hammer down heading into the long, sandy whoop section, and by the end he was throwing dirt at Wilk. With a clear track ahead, the Mom & Dad/Championship Powersports-sponsored Ughetti went on a run that no one in the class could match, winning moto one by a wide margin of victory. Wilk's troubles were not over yet, as the new-to-the-B-class rider was now being hounded by Honda-mounted Addison Mock (682, below). Wilk knows the BCMC track like the back of his hand, but Mock had the line he needed to take the runner-up spot away from Wilk with one lap to go. Ughetti took the checkered flag first, with Mock a good distance back. Wilk took third. Austin Uptegraft and Justin McDonald rounded out the top five.2010 0424 BCMC Addison Mock 682

In moto two, it was once again Ughetti coming from within the field to run down the leaders and take the moto win. Ughetti's 1-1 moto victories added up to an Open B overall on his first try in the class. The second-moto runner-up was Uptegraft, who had a great battle with Mock throughout the moto. Mock, however, got the last laugh, as a when the final points were totaled, it was Mock (2-3) who would take the second step of the podium, beating out Uptegraft (4-2) by a point at day's end. McDonald (5-4) and Wilk (3-DNF) rounded out the top five.2010 0424 BCMC Jeff Bost 104

In Over 45 action, it was Jeff Bost (104, right) taking the win after a hard-fought battle with the rest of the field. The older guys dig the old-school layout that Battle Creek has to offer, and in Over 45 action, it was a battle out front, as Jeff Bost and Albion Ford-backed Bill Vann went for the moto wins in this highly competitive class. Bost nailed the start of moto one, with Fred Boiling, Rodney Benjamin and Vann in tow. It took Vann a lap or two to find his way around Bost, and he went on to take the win. Bost crossed the line in second, with Boiling and Benjamin in tow.

Bost had the starter's number and took another holeshot in moto two, and this time he was not caught from behind, taking the moto win and, with his 2-1 tally, the overall. Benjamin (3-2) was second overall after a strong runner-up finish in moto two, topping both Boiling and moto-one winner Vann (1-4).

Battle Creek will host its next MX event on June 5 and 6. Make sure you mark your calendars for another Cereal City classic.
