Finley's a Flash at RedBud's GLMX Season Opener

BUCHANAN, MI

Nearly 350 riders made their way to day one of the fun-filled, action-packed 2010 RedBud GLMX season opener. The Schoolboy One class is always full of fast riders who are on the move, and this year is no exception. Dillon Finley was straight up flying all day long.2010 0410 RedBud Dakota Blakeney 11 vs Marshall Weltin 73 vs Jarred Williams 49

Dakota Blakeney (11, above) grabbed the first-moto start, ahead of Marshall Weltin (73) and Jarred Williams (49), but with a field of 18 behind him, he had his hands full in a hurry. Williams, Jacob Jeffery, Jeff Walker and Ryan Hoover were in the hunt early on, but Finley was on the move, pulling Jacob Behringer along with him. When the riders entered the whoops, Finley flew up the inside to take the lead for good. Williams wasn't going to let him go without a fight, though, so he tried to latch on to Finley's rear fender. However, on this day, Finley was just too strong, and Williams was forced to settle for the runner-up spot. Blakeney turned his holeshot into a third-place finish.

Finley got a better start in moto two and set sail, making the second moto look easy and taking the overall with his 1-1 tally; this kid has speed and style beyond his years. Blakeney went after Williams this time and it paid off with a runner-up finish in moto two as well as second overall. Walker found his groove in moto two and put his Championship Powersports-backed machine into third place in moto two; coupled with his first-moto sixth, that was good for fourth overall. Derrick Boyd had been off the pace in moto one, finishing ninth, but a better start made the likable Illinois rider a solid fourth in moto two. Williams had a miscue early on and played catch-up all race long, nipping Behringer (5-6) near the finish line to lock up third overall with his 2-5 tally.2010 0410 RedBud Travis Winter 0 vs Matt Fozo 105 vs Adam Hickmott 7

The 250 C class featured a nearly full gate, as 39 RedBud hopefuls lined up for moto one. When the pack rounded the first turn, it was Travis Winter (0, above), Adam Hickmott (7) and Matt Fozo (105) with the advantage. However, Tom Legleiter had other plans and found a line to the front, outgunning runner-up Mitchell Highbaugh in a close-fought last lap. Samantha Sisinger (516, below right) was third, and Austin Morris and Greg Coda rounded out the top five.2010 0410 RedBud Samantha Sisinger 516

In moto two, Sisinger had all the boys seeing red as she piloted her Honda to a second-moto win and the overall victory via her 3-1 score. Hickmott (15-2) had a first moto he'd rather forget but rebounded well to make second place his in the second stanza. Morris (4-3) was third in moto two, giving him second overall. Winter (6-4) and Coda (5-5) rounded out the top five in the moto as well as overall.
