Florida/Georgia Fall MX Classic
Round 3: Alma MX Park

Dumond Doubles Down at Alma

ALMA, GA

The Florida/Georgia Fall Classic Series came to Alma Motocross Park, and conditions were beautiful all weekend as the Western Power Sports/Fly Racing-sponsored series hit the halfway mark, with two rounds remaining after this race. One rider who took advantage of the glorious weather was Monster Energy's Steve Dumond (211, below). The Kawasaki rider won the Over 30 A/B and Over 40 classes.Steve Dumond 211 at Alma MX 2009 1115

The combined Over 35, 40 and 45 field took to the track for the first moto, with Dumond leading the way. Valdosta Powersports' Timmy Revelt, Kings Bay Honda's Steve Petty, A&G Tire's Arty Coker, and Capital Cycles' Danny Glover were in the top five. After a bad start, Jacksonville Powersports' Dan Sallas started coming up through the pack. When the moto finished, the top three were still Dumond, Revelt and Petty. Sallas passed Coker on the last lap for fourth.

The second moto saw Dumond leading Revelt, Sallas, Brian Chancey and Coker. Chancey made a mistake on lap two and dropped back. Sallas pressured Revelt and made the pass into second at the halfway mark. Dumond cruised out front for the win, over Sallas and Revelt. Coker held off Petty for fourth.Dan Sallas 711 at Alma MX 2009 1115

After Dan Sallas (711, above) won the Over 35 class, he backed it up with double-moto wins in the Open Amateur class. The tough 16-29 class ran at the same time. On the track, Cody Smith took both moto wins, over Zach Crosby. Hunter Harbin took third, over Sallas and Matt Stansberry, in the first moto. Sallas came back in moto two for third on the track, over A.C. Britt and John Iannce.Zack Briar 62 vs Max Darling 12 at Alma MX 2009 1115

Lifetime Enclosures' Zack Briar (62) and Bostwick Creek's Max Darling (12) fought for the lead the entire first moto of the 85 (9-13) class. Darling sneaked around Briar on the last lap to take the win. Series points leader Chad Stonier took third after a mediocre start. Capital Cycles' Nick Sweat got around Gage Chancey to take fourth.

The second moto saw Darling take the lead and never relinquish it. Stonier held off Briar for second. Sweat and Fearless Cycles' Jake Johnson rounded out the top five.

Fly/Renthal/Globe Shoes-sponsored Austin Rue took the first-moto win in the 85 (12-15) class, after Scott's Zane Ducheneaux led early but finished second. Title contender Darling started second but dropped to third by the end. The other title contender, Briar, held steady in fourth, and Jordan Sims rounded out the top five.

Rue was out front for most of the second moto until Darling snatched the win away. Ducheneaux mixed it up with the leaders, running as high as second and eventually finishing third. Briar finished fourth, giving Darling a five-point lead with two rounds left.

North Jax Motorsports' Hunter Harbin won the competitive 250 C class with double-moto wins. Branson Blake led early in both motos until Harbin got the lead, and Branson settled for second each time. Beasley Motorsports' Matt Stansberry took two fourths to round out the podium.
