RANCHO CORDOVA, CA

For its fifth round, the AMP Fall Series went back to the Prairie City SVRA park, also known as the Hangtown National Track. This race was the last series event that AMP will hold at the Hangtown track, as a new promoter is coming on board. Though this would be the last AMP series event, there was no slacking when it came to getting things organized and ready for this race. The track prep was good on Saturday for practice, and conditions got even better for race day. AMP offers a 200-percent Pro payback as well as factory contingency for almost every one of its rounds, so there is never a shortage of Pros in attendance, and this weekend was no different.

Gared Steinke jumped out front in the first 250 Pro moto, followed by Topher Ingalls and Garrett Jones. Steinke and Ingalls quickly set a blistering pace out front. Jones started to struggle as the laps clicked by. Brad Kelly got in a groove and charged passed Jones for third later in the moto. Ingalls gave everything he had to put a move on Steinke but didn't have enough time.

In moto two, Steinke hit the gate, leaving Ingalls all alone out front. Kelly followed, and Steinke made a hard charge through the pack and then made a last-lap pass for third. Ingalls' 2-1 tally garnered the overall, over Steinke's 1-3 finishes and Kelly's 3-2 score.

The Four-Stroke Pro and 450 Pro classes featured a face new to AMP. Topher Ingalls got the holeshot over all the 450s in all four of these motos but eventually was run down and passed by AMA Pro rider Darryn Durham (above). Though Durham didn't get the best of starts, he used blistering speed to get through the pack and take off. Durham was running lap times about four seconds faster than those of Ingalls, who placed second in both classes. Ingalls was followed by Steinke in the Four-Stroke Pro class and by David Gassin in the 450 Pro class.

With great racing like this so deep into the AMP Fall Series, the final round is sure to be even better. AMP will hold one more local event at the Hangtown National Track in the near future before the new track promoter takes over. Look forward to great improvements from AMP Racing in the near future.
