Appreciation Day Bonus Points Event
Lincoln Trail Motorsports

Giving Thanks

CASEY, IL

"I just want to say 'thank you' to all the riders who have come to the events this year," said Lincoln Trail owner Tim Jackson. "We are trying to continue to make the track a better place to attend, with improvements like buildings and working on the track and trails."

This year's Appreciation Weekend featured a free meal for everyone at the track; a freestyle competition that was part of a series that builds the next pros that you'll see at the X Games; a bonfire; and, of course, hayrides and other fun activities. On Sunday, Jackson and a helper were out in the mule, spreading joy and giving prizes to almost everyone they came across.

On Saturday, the track was a messy, muddy quagmire from the massive amount of rain that had been dumped on Illinois recently, but on Sunday the track crew had the track in great shape.

"We have put a lot of dirt on the track to make it softer and less hard-packed," said Jackson.

With the season coming to an end, many riders are after as many points as they can get, and everyone is after the bonus points, so there was some great racing!

It came as no surprise that the 250 C class was one of the biggest of the day. In the first moto, Racer X Honda rider Kaleb Graef took the holeshot and charged all the way to the end to take the moto win. Yamaha rider Brandon Simes finished second, with Yamaha rider Joe Aumiller third.

In the second moto, the top three riders were again out front, but the overall was anyone's to win. At the checkered flag, Simes took the win and, with it, the overall victory. Aumiller took second for the moto and third overall. First-moto winner Graef finished third, giving him second overall.Blake Young 120 at LTM 2009 1018

One rider putting in a great ride and pocketing his share of the points was Halls Cycles Husky rider Blake Young (120, above). He has been away from racing for a while but is now back in full swing. In the Over 25 class, Kawasaki rider Cory Deadmond didn't give Young a very warm welcome, taking the first-moto win. Young was second and Andrew Brown finished third.

In the second moto, Young had his Husky on the move, and he took the moto win and the overall victory. Deadmond took second for the moto and overall. Brown again put in a good ride for third and finished third overall.

The end of this last race marked the end of another racing season at Lincoln Trail, and as the riders all headed out the gate, they were all waving and yelling, "See you next year!"
