Round 3: Dirt Farm Off-Road Park

Hughes Flies High at Dirt Farm

FOLKSTON, GA

The third round of the Florida/Georgia Fall Border Series was held at Dirt Farm Off-Road Park, which featured some new twists and turns. The track has been turned around to run in the opposite direction, the starting line had been moved to the other end, a new section has been added, and another section has been removed. The riders welcomed these new challenges as racing got under way.Tanner Hughes 893 at Dirt Farm 2009 1011

MSR/Carbon Fiber Works-sponsored Tanner Hughes (893, above) almost took three class wins on the day. Hughes took double-moto wins in the Schoolboy and 250 B class. Camden Motorsports' Alex Diaz took away Hughes' perfect day in the Two-Stroke class with a second-moto win.

In the first Schoolboy moto, Hughes took the lead and never looked back. Kyle Ackerman, North Jacksonville Suzuki's Tyler Albertson, Scott's Kyle Johnson, and Kyle Williams followed Hughes. Albertson and Johnson quickly passed Ackerman. Then Williams and Garrett Westbrook passed Ackerman at the halfway flag. The order was set - until the last lap, when Johnson took a spill. At the checkers, Hughes won, followed by Albertson, Williams, Westbrook and Ackerman.

Hughes led the second moto, followed by Johnson, Williams, Ackerman and Westbrook. The top three remained the same to the end. Westbrook got by Ackerman for fourth.Waylon Maloy 515 at Dirt Farm 2009 1011

Richie Kasey, Josh Friebel and Decal Works' Hunter Harbin ran fourth through sixth. Two laps from the end, Parks faltered. At the checkers, it was Maloy, Tyson, Kasey, Friebel and Harbin.

Maloy did the same in the second moto, and Parks was runner-up. Kasey was third until the last lap, when he went down. Rounding out the top five were Friebel, Harbin and Chris Kusil.Hunter Harbin 33 at Dirt Farm 2009 1011

The biggest class of the day was the 250 C class. The gate was close to full as the riders lined up. Batts finished up second, and Williams moved up to third. Joshua Barber moved through the pack to finish fourth, and Albertson was fifth.

Harbin led the second moto from start to finish. Taylor redeemed himself by keeping second the entire time. Batts, Williams and Barber rounded out the top five.

O'Neal/Twin Air/Renthal-sponsored Morgan Johnson won the Girls'/Women's class with a 1-1 score. In the first moto, Johnson ran away with the win, over Shelby Krech and Jenna Eminger. In the second moto, Johnson worked her way around those two and took another convincing win.

Dirt Works' Cody Holdeman put in some good rides on the day. He topped the 65 (7-9) and 65 Open classes with double-moto wins. Holdeman then went on to win the 85 (7-11) class with a 2-1 score.
