TAYLORVILLE, IL
"Will Race for Food" is what the riders could have been saying on this day. The South Fork Dirt Riders crew fed everyone at the track spaghetti and mac 'n' cheese for free - not just every racer but their crews, families... everyone!
Aside from the food, the weather was perfect and the track was in great shape - a good recipe for a great day of racing!
With their stomachs full and orange spaghetti mustaches on their upper lips, the 65cc Junior riders were ready to go. In the first moto, Carter "Flash" Gordon flew to the moto win, with his fellow Kawasaki jockeys Noah Watts (65, above) second and Ezra Lusk third. In the second moto, Gordon again put on a great ride for the moto win and overall victory. Second in the moto went to Suzuki rider Jacob Lancaster, making a great comeback after tallying a DNF in the first moto. Watts has been charging all year and looks stronger and more aggressive on the bike at each race, and on this day he took third for the moto and second overall. Third overall went to Ezra Schaal with a fourth-place moto finish.
The name Trowbridge has been around motocross for years. On this day, Randy Trowbridge took second overall in the Over 50 class, behind Rod Burger. Suzuki jockey Kelby Trowbridge (178, below) wreaked havoc on the track in the Over 30 B class. Every dog has his day, and on this day Kelby - who has been riding great all year - was barking, putting in great rides en route to taking both moto wins and the overall victory.
"I just felt great," Kelby stated. "In fact, they started the A class in front of us, and I was trying to catch them, so I charged every lap both motos."
Second in both motos and overall was Honda rider Terry Winterbauer. Yamaha rider Donnie Hensen finished third in each moto and overall.
