The final round of the Southern Atlantic Motocross Series was run under conditions that were hot for an early autumn day. One rider who challenged the heat was Captain Joe's Seafood-backed Joshua Gibbs (30, above). The youngster rode four classes and won all of them.

His only blip on the day came in the very first moto of the day. Gibbs was leading the combined 50 (4-6) and (7-8) classes when a bike problem occurred. Rowdy Lanier took the win. Gibbs recovered and finished second. The second moto was all Gibbs', as Lanier took second. The rest of the day went flawlessly, as Gibbs won every moto in all his other classes.

Lance McConnell (11, above) challenged Gibbs in the 65 (7-9) and Open classes throughout the series. Gibbs came out on top in the 65 (7-9) class championship, while McConnell won the Open.

Capital Cycles' Nick Sweat (229, below) took the first-moto win in the 65/85 Junior Mini class. Camden Motorsports' Jake Johnson was second early on until Gemini Cycle Supply's Justin Hendrix passed him for the runner-up spot. O'Neal/Dunlop/Scott-sponsored Morgan Johnson was a distant fourth. Hendrix dominated the second moto, over Sweat, Jake and Morgan. When the final series points were tallied, Sweat had won the class championship by five points over Morgan, and one more point back in third was Jake.

Morgan Johnson came back to win the Girls class with double moto wins. Morgan was running second in the first moto, behind Lauren Turner. Morgan pressured Turner into making a mistake and went on to take the win. The second moto was all Johnson's, as she won by a large margin.

The first 125-250 Schoolboy moto was a barn-burner. Rivals Myles Heath and Kyle Edwards went at it tooth and nail the entire moto. Scott/Renthal/SixSixOne-sponsored Heath led the first couple of laps. Christopher Bean Coffee/Cycle Gears-sponsored Edwards passed for the lead in the middle of the moto. Heath came back to retake the top spot for the last couple of laps and take the win over Edwards. Alistair Prentice passed Lane Hanberry for the last podium position. When the results were posted, Heath was penalized a position for jumping on a yellow flag.

Edwards went on to lead every lap of the second moto, as Heath suffered from a terrible start. As Heath was moving up, so was Prentice, after a mediocre start. The two met at the halfway flag, and Heath finally made the pass. The two continued to move up. At the checkers, it was Edwards, Heath, Prentice, Hanberry and Logan Dixon.

Heath redeemed himself in the 250 C class, leading every lap to take the first-moto win. Edwards moved up to second at the checkers, over Russell Parker, Prentice and Levi Schoelzel. The second moto was more of the same for Heath. Parker started second but Edwards passed by on lap two. Prentice got by Kyle Cowart early for fourth, and the order was set. At the checkers, it was Heath, Edwards, Parker, Prentice and Cowart.
