CRC Motocross Victory to Vonlossberg

PALMDALE, CA

Ryan Vonlossberg (145, below) flew his O'Neal/SixSixOne/FMF-backed YZ250F to a double-moto sweep of the always-competitive 250 Novice class at Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale during the Fox Racing-sponsored round of the California Racing Club's Hot Summer Nights Motocross Series.Ryan Vonlossberg 145 at LACR 2009 0822

Vonlossberg bolted out of the gate and into an immediate lead as moto one got under way, ahead of Ty Dennison (194), Austin Kashay (128) and John Milner (5). Joshua Miles quickly took over the second spot and had his hands full with Shane Miller, Travis Frohlich and Dalton Weyer. Vonlossberg slowly inched away from a great battle over second place, in which Miller would prove to be fastest. Miller set out after Vonlossberg, but there just was no catching the Yamaha rider, and he took the checkers with room to spare. Milner appeared to be one of the fastest riders on the track, as he came from way back off the start for a hard-fought third-place finish, ahead of Weyer, Zack Wiley and Robert Angell.

Weyer put his Jardine/O'Neal-sponsored Honda into the point position at the drop of the gate in moto two and would set the pace until the end of lap two, when Miller took over. Miller looked comfortable out front and was starting to pull away until he slid out in a turn, handing the lead over to Vonlossberg. Once out front, the race was all Vonlossberg's, as he motored away uncontested for the win. Weyer and Milner argued over second place for a good part of the race until Milner got the upper hand to collect the second-place trophy on his 3-2 night. Miller fought his way back up into a sixth-place finish, which earned him third in the final standings, over the 8-3 tally of Frohlich and the 6-5 finishes of Angell.Justin Hoeft 615 at LACR 2009 0822

It was all Justin Hoeft (615, right) in the 85cc (7-11) class, as the DVS/John Stich/Brand X-backed Yamaha rider easily dominated both races. Casey Langosh and Jake Hogan traded second place back and forth throughout both motos, with Langosh prevailing in the end. Justin Hoeft's younger brother Tyler went 4-4, ahead of Brandon Pozas.

Thomas Spalliero went wire to wire for the 250 Beginner-class opening-moto victory. Kel Postel and Doug Coates fought over the runner-up position, with Coates proving to be slightly faster during the second half of the moto to get the job done. Jasun Spriggs claimed fourth, over Kaley Read and Brad Reinhart.

Spalliero was equally impressive in moto two, but this time Coates pushed him during the final couple of circuits to make him work for the win. Postel was again third, followed by Spriggs and Read.Chris Yeager 193 at LACR 2009 0822

Earl Cole led most of the first Vet Intermediate outing until a fall dropped him back to an eventual fifth-place finish. Mike Tomlinson inherited the lead and the win, followed by Chris Yeager (193, left), Cameron Doll and Andre Brandes.

Moto two was all Brandes', as he just plain outran the field, but it was the consistent 2-2 rides of Yeager that captured the overall honors. Doll went 3-3 for third, over the 1-5 effort of Tomlinson and the 7-4 score of Robbie Dunham.
