Josh Denson emerged as the fastest rider of the day at the Central Illinois Motorcycle Club hillclimb on May 30. His 2.613-second time on his first ride on his KX500 in the 600cc class held up for that class win, as well as the overall Fast Time for the day. Cody Brewington was close to him with a 2.682-second time on his Honda, with Cody Jenner less than a hundredth of a second behind him in third place with a 2.689-second time.
"Jammin' Joe" McGurer and Kyle Galloway were double-class winners.
McGurer got his first win in the 125cc class, coming from behind with a 3.638-second ride on his KX125 to overtake Lucas Learned, who had posted a 3.705-second run in the first round on his CR125 to take the class lead into intermission. McGurer got his second win in the 250cc class, in which he had to again come from behind. His first-round time of 3.151 seconds was good for the first-round lead, but "Dangerous Dylan" Brady flew his Honda over the top in 3.009 seconds to take the class lead, with Matt Peters close behind him with a 3.115-second run on his Honda. "Jammin' Joe" was up to the challenge, however, as he sailed his KX250 high over the top in 2.950 seconds to take the class win - and become the only rider in the class in the two-second range.
Galloway got his first win in the 200cc class with a 3.567-second run on his KDX200, followed by Keith Klett, who rode his KDX in for second place. Riding his CR250, Galloway topped the hill on his first ride in the 400cc Stock class in a very good 2.965 seconds - and the only rider in this class to break into the twos. "Fast Andy" Fortner was close, with a 3.009-second time on his Honda, for second. Mike Pulver was third.
Levi Peters had another perfect day in the Youth classes, winning all three of his classes and taking the Youth Fast Time award. Riding his KTM 50 with his "1N" National Champion plate, Levi topped the hill in 3.830 seconds on his first ride for the 50cc-class win. Dereck Bell and Brodie Bennett were second and third, respectively.
In the 65cc class, Levi needed only one ride on his KX65 for the win, posting a 3.611-second time. Reece Hutton and Andrew Fortner followed him with times of 3.929 and 3.953 seconds, respectively.
Just as in the first two classes, young Peters needed only one ride to take the 85cc Junior Mini win, his 3.467-second first-round ride good for the class win, as well as the Youth Fast Time award. Reece Hutton was second again, with Clayton Hirsch third. "Lightning Levi" Peters (below, with his booty) not only had a perfect day but also completed a perfect weekend.
