Peters Perfect at Cahokia Creek

WHITE CITY, IL

The Cahokia Creek Dirt Riders held their first nighttime hillclimb of the year on a rain-slickened hill, and the father-and-son team of Matt and Levi Peters were absolutely dominant.2010 0515 Cahokia Creek HC Matt Peters 72

Matt Peters (72, above) won four classes and claimed both the overall Fast Time and King Of The Hill awards. His first win came on his CR250 in the 250cc class, in which his 3.684-second time on his first ride was the fast time up to that point of the night, and it held up for the class win. "Dangerous Dylan" Brady claimed second with a 4.002-second time. Kirk Gorsuch was third.

Matt then lowered the fast time to 3.479 seconds on his first ride in the 450cc class on his KTM 380, and that time also held up for the class win. Gorsuch was close behind him with a 3.509-second run on his KX450F. Mike Sarver was third.

Matt repeated the same scenario in the 600cc class, lowering the overall fast time to 3.476 seconds on his KX500, with that time holding up for the class win. Brady was second, and Chris Peters was third.

Matt capped off his perfect evening by winning the one-run King Of The Hill class, an exhibition class for the 10 fastest riders of the night, regardless of bike size. Riding his KX500 one more time, he flew over the top in 3.943 seconds - becoming the only rider on the day to break into the threes in the class. Matt's nephew Chris Peters was second with a 4.030-second time on his CR500. Mike Pulver was third.

Matt Peters completed his clean sweep by riding only once in each class.2010 0515 Cahokia Creek HC Levi Peters 01

Meanwhile, Matt's boy Levi "Lightning" Peters (01, above) also had a perfect night, winning two Youth classes and the Youth Fast Time award. Levi's first ride of 105 feet in the 50cc class on his KTM 50 was good for that class win. Brodie Bennett was second with an 85-foot effort on his KTM. Derek Bell was third, riding 55 feet on his Lem. Levi is the 2009 National Champion in the 50cc class.

In the 65cc class, Levi rode his KX65 105 feet up the slick hill - a climb that would also hold up for the class win. Jon Brian was second with a 65-foot run on his Kawasaki. So Levi duplicated his father's perfect night: winning each class he entered with only one run in each, and claiming the Youth Fast Time award.

Mark Peters, Matt's brother, joined the family win parade by winning the Senior (Over 40) class on his CR500 with a first-round ride of 3.902 seconds. Mike Pulver was second with a 3.977-second ride. Jon Creek was third. Mark also took only one ride to claim his win.

Other class winners included Jarred Brown, in the 85cc Junior Mini class; Kirk Davis, in the 85cc Senior Mini class; 125cc victor Lucas Learnerd; 200cc-class winner Schuyler Kalaher; Rich Matthews, in the 600 Four-Stroke contest; Mike Sarver, in the 750cc class; Jim Allen, who topped the Over 50 ranks; Micah King, in the 400cc Stock class; Mike Pulver, in the Open Stock class; and Becky Lawson, the Women's victor.
