Schumann, Galloway Tops at PRMC Hillclimb

CAYUGA, INDanny Schumann 2 at Pleasure Riders HC 2009 0912

At the Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club hillclimb, Danny Schumann (2, above) missed a perfect night by less than three-hundredths of a second, taking two class wins and a second, plus the Fast Time of the Day award. He had to come from far behind in the 600cc class, as his 4.201-second time on the 160-foot hill had him in seventh place at intermission, with Matt Peters in the lead with a 4.050-second time. In the second round, however, Schumann flew his KX500 over the top in a sizzling 3.866 seconds - a time that would also win him the Fast Time award. "Dangerous Dylan" Brady was second in 3.913 seconds. Schumann's 4.106-second run on his KTM 380 in the first round of the 450cc class held up all night for that class win, well ahead of runner-up Dan Groth, who carded 4.260 seconds on his KTM. Brian Klett was close behind Groth with a 4.283-second run.

In the 250cc class, Schumann set the first-round fast time at 4.107 seconds, which looked very good until Matt Peters flew over the top in 4.078 seconds in the second round. Schumann couldn't improve on his first ride and had to settle for second by less than three-hundredths of a second - he was that close to a clean sweep and a perfect night.

Levi Peters and Joe McGurer both enjoyed double-class-win evenings, and Kyle Galloway was a triple-class winner.

"Lightning Levi" Peters got his wins in the 50cc and 65cc classes. Carrying the National number-one plate on his KTM 50, he topped the hill in 5.236 seconds for the 50cc-class win. Reece Hutton was second and Braden Young was third. Carrying the National number-four plate on his KX65, Peters posted a 5.108-second time for the 65cc-class win, with Clint Garriott second and Landen Noggle third.

"Jammin' Joe" McGurer took his first win with a 4.591-second time on his KX85 to win the Junior Mini class; that time that also was good for the Youth Fast Time award. He claimed his second win with a 4.237-second time on his KX125 to win the 125cc class, with Lonnie Estes Jr. second.

Kyle Galloway took double wins in the Stock classes. He came from behind in the 400cc Stock class, in which his 4.390-second first-round ride had him in third place at the break, behind Andy Fortner and Mike Pulver. Things sped up in the second half, and Galloway took the win with a 4.089-second time, with Fortner second in 4.107 seconds.

Galloway had to overtake Pulver for the Open Stock-class win, as Pulver took the first-round lead with a 4.124-second time on his CR500. Galloway was second in 4.169 seconds on his KX500. In the second round, Galloway flew his Kawasaki over the top in 4.078 seconds for the win.

Galloway's third win came in the 200cc class, with a 4.435-second time on his vintage KDX200. Chris Senn and Keith Klett were second and third, respectively.
