McKay More Than Okay at CIMC Hillclimb

NEOGA, IL

The Central Illinois Motorcycle Club ran a night-and-day doubleheader hillclimb on September 5 and 6. The Sunday edition of the doubleheader found Jared McKay emerging as the fastest rider of the day. He had to come from well back in the pack in the 600cc class, as his 2.819-second first-round time had him in 10th place at the break, while Josh Denson was in the lead with a sizzling 2.445-second time. But McKay twisted the throttle tight on his KX540 and held it there, flying over the top in a blistering 2.373 seconds to take the class win, as well as the Fast Time of the day. Denson's time held up for second place, with Cody Jenner running third with his 2.480-second first-round ride.

Levi Peters and Joe McGurer were repeat double-class winners, and Kyle Galloway also enjoyed a double-class-win day.Levi Peters 4N at CIMC HC 2009 0906

Reece Hutton was his closest challenger in the 50cc class with a 3.656-second time, and Braden Young was third. Andrew Fortner was second in the 65cc class with a 3.713-second time, with Hutton placing third.

His first-round 2.859-second run on his KX250 was good for the 400 Stock win, with Mike Pulver second and Andy Fortner third. Galloway's 2.987-second first-round ride would have won the Open Stock class as well, but he beat it himself with an even quicker 2.903-second time in the second round. Pulver was second again, with Nick Daniels in third.

In other youth action, Clayton Hirsch took the 85cc Junior Mini-class win with a 3.631-second time. Leonard Bucholz IV was second.
