AMA Dirt Track Championship Holeshot Series Half Mile
Round 7: Susquehanna Speedway

Minor Masters Susquehanna HM Holeshot Qualifier

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA

Jamison Minor (110, below) took a trio of hard-earned wins as the Northeast Holeshot Series Qualifier moved to the small half mile at Susquehanna Speedway. All his wins came after battles from average starts, in the 125, 250 Modified Two-Stroke and 250 Sportsman classes.2010 0530 Susquehanna HM Jamison Minor 110 vs Matt Trout 16A

Minor led off with the Two-Stroke class. It was his best start of the evening: a close second, behind Matt Trout (16A, above) and in front of Devon Gerhart and Travis Tyeryar. After staying close, Minor got under Trout off turn two on the fourth lap and put a little distance on him.

The Sportsman final had Tyler Stacey leading Minor, Roy Miller and Colton Smith. Minor took the lead off turn four on the opening lap. Smith used the outside line to get by Stacey for second off turn four on the third lap.

The 125 final was up next and, as he had done in the previous two races, Smith took the lead, ahead of Trout, Minor and Cody Ebersole. Over the latter half of the final, Minor and Trout were racing very closely for second. On the next-to-last lap, Minor dived low into turn three and came out in front off turn four for second. He did the same move on Smith on the final lap and executed the "slide job" to perfection for the lead and win.

Smith had an easy time winning the 250 Modified Four-Stroke class, over Dylan Winsett, Jason Nuss and Anthony Crabbe. Winsett and Nuss staged a close fight for second for most of the final, with that spot going to Winsett.2010 0530 Susquehanna HM Brandon Price 92 vs Nathan Reichert 16

Brandon Price (92, above) had to work for his 65 Modified sweep at this event. He battled his cousin, 65 DTX winner Nathan Reichert (16), in the early stages of the final. Zack Kolsovsky, Trevor Williams and Chris Thomas followed, waging their own battle for third. Price took first off turn four on the third lap. Thomas got rolling and took third on the third lap and pressured Kolsovsky throughout the last half, taking third down the back straight on the final lap.

Tristan Avery showed why he gets better when the tracks get bigger, as he pulled away from Price, Cameron Smith and Ken Kolsovsky. Smith and Price battled for second for most of the race, with Price getting the nod.

Ricky Winsett took his second Open Sportsman win of the weekend. He pulled away from Roy Miller, Evan Baer, Jonathan Jordan and Tom Majeski. Miller dropped back while Majeski moved up and pressured Baer for second in the middle parts of the race, with that spot going to Majeski.

After winning five of six classes on Saturday, Jordan took only the 450 Modified class on Sunday. Although Baer won the race, he was the only Pro-Am in a combined final. Jordan led Jason Cunningham, Brian Bills and Ryan Connelly home.

Jordan led Tyler Phillips, Richard Pfanders and Crabbe at the start of the 251-500 DTX final, but Phillips got under him off turn two on the fifth lap for the win.2010 0530 Susquehanna HM Tom Majeski 3A vs Mike Klopp 45A

After winning the Over 30 class, over Pfanders, Todd Kendig was looking like the favorite in the Over 40 contest. He led Mike Klopp (45A, above), Dallas Baer and Majeski off turn two, but on the second lap Klopp and Baer dropped Kendig back. Tom Majeski (3A) moved up to second a lap later, and he and Klopp began a pass-repass battle for the lead that wasn't decided until turn two of the final lap, when Klopp touched Majeski's rear and slid down.
