The Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club hosted the third Indiana Flat Track Association round at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds in Columbus, Indiana. One might have thought it was Friday the 13th and a full moon by the way things started, with an accident on the first lap of practice, as John Deines went down for a soil sample. Then things got really scary when Joel Creed went down hard in turn one in his heat race and then got hit while lying in the main groove; the impact knocked his helmet off. Creed was airlifted to Indianapolis, where he was diagnosed as having sustained a cracked rib, a concussion, lacerations to his face, and a bruised hand. He was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

The heat races were close and exciting. Ken Maynard (13) and Zach Palmer won their heat races in the Open class. Blake Singleton and Dave Kurek won their heat races in the 250cc Two-Stroke/Four-Stroke class.

The intermission featured a wheelie contest that was open to all, with the entry fees going to charity. Stoney Lonesome member and corner worker Johnny Robbins stole the win away from Maynard. Robbins rode a wheelie the length of the front stretch and did another show boater on the back stretch. Maynard answered with a styling wheelie just short of the length of the main stretch while standing on his rear seat. Robbins finished with another front-stretch-long wheelie, nearly going into the hay bales in turn one.

Zach Palmer led the first five laps of the Open main before hard-charging veteran Maynard took the lead away in turn four when Palmer drifted high. Maynard then drifted high going into turn one, but he was able to hold on to the lead and take the win, ahead of Palmer and Jake Tolbert. These three riders were a straightaway ahead of the rest of the pack at the checkered flag.
