OROFINO, ID

The Orofino Regional EnduroCross is the brainchild of Dale Barger of the Orofino Motorcycle Club. This is the third year for this event, and it went off with a big bang. The event brought in a very large group of professional riders, including Cory Graffunder (118, above), Jaime Lanza, Derek Mahoney, Joe Kopp, Geoff Aaron (2X, below), David Kamo and Jon Seehorn, along with many more.

The course was made up in the city's logger's arena, and the club used every part of the venue. The crew worked on the layout for six days to make a course with some really cool obstacles. The swinging log bridge took the Pros by surprise. Then they turned the corner to find a floating log bridge. It's amazing to see what out-of-work loggers can do. The normal track had used the loader tires, logs, rocks and sharp corners. The last bridge had also been used in the second year of the event. Some of the Pros were just jumping right over it like it wasn't even there, but to their surprise, the next part of the course had a logging truck with a partial load of logs on it to ride down.

Cory Graffunder won both Pro main events, leaving Orofino with more than $4,000 in cash. He said that he loved the event and will be back again next year.

This was a community event that was sponsored by the businesses around the area. When a small town can come up with a $10,000 Pro purse, you know that the whole town is behind the event.
