CMRA Superbike Endurance
Round 3: Texas World Speedway

First Win for Moto Ace Team

COLLEGE STATION, TX2010 0410 Texas World Speedway Moto Ace Team

The RideSmart team went 11 laps down in an early race shunt, giving the Moto Ace team (above) a crack at their first win of the season in the SBAE class at Texas World Speedway.2010 0410 Texas World Speedway RideSmart Ty Howard 35

The KTM-powered RideSmart endeavor (as led by team leader Ty Howard, 35, above, lofting the KTM's front wheel at over 100 in the Texas World Speedway infield late in the race) was the pre-race favorite after dominating the first two six-hour endurance events of the season at Texas World Speedway in February and Eagles Canyon Raceway in March. However, about an hour into the race, the KTM lost traction in the number-nine horseshoe bend and went down hard. RideSmart was never able to make up the loss and finished third, 10 laps back of the leader.

Moto Ace capitalized on RideSmart's misfortune and continued to push the Suzuki hard, finishing five laps ahead of the second-place Mini Haters team. Nobody was backing off. Even at the end of the six hours, the high-performance bikes were charging Texas World's high-speed bends and lofting the front wheel as they crested a small rise in the infield straight.

The first SBCE class team was the Village Idiots, still two laps up on RideSmart.

The next endurance event on the CMRA circuit will be on May 1, back at Eagles Canyon in Decatur, Texas.
