Crawford Clobbers York Half Mile

YORK, PA2010 0731 York Fg Corey Crawford 80B

New York's Corey Crawford (80B, above) scored a pair of wins at the Baer Racing Products York Half Mile, surprising two National number holders in the process, to take the Open A and 450 Sportsman finals on his Priestley Racing/Vadnais Machine/Renthal/Jeff Eddy-sponsored Yamaha.

In the Open A contest, Raun Wood led Crawford, Jake Shoemaker, Jason Isennock and Tommy McGrane. Wood and Crawford quickly put some distance on the battle for third. By the start of the third lap, Wood thought he had the race under control on his Scott PowerSports Honda, but Crawford shot into turn one a little high and shot down under him off turn two to execute a beautiful "slide job" that caused Wood to back off slightly to avoid hitting Crawford's rear tire. This gave Crawford some breathing room, which he held to the end. Isennock took third off turn two on the following lap.

In the featured 450 Sportsman event, Tim Eades grabbed the point from Crawford, Wood, Donnie Mullen and Shoemaker. This time he surprised Eades entering one on the second lap to take the lead. which he then held to the end.

Crawford's traveling buddy Eric Johncox stopped his streak in the 450 Stock Frame final, grabbing the lead from Travis Diem, Crawford, Shoemaker and Joe Gathercole. Johncox used a clear track to gap the others. Crawford took second off turn two on the final lap, but Diem regained it by the flag.2010 0731 York Fg Rich Mellinger 86 vs Colton Smith 32

Recently crowned 65 National Champion Brandon Price (1NE, below) did the usual in the 65 final, taking the lead from his cousin Nathan Reichert, with Zack Kolsovsky, Colin Cunningham and Chris Thomas following. As usual, Price and Reichert pulled away as they battled closely for the lead, with Price holding a slight lead. Reichert fell on the final lap in turn three, giving Price the win.2010 0731 York Fg Brandon Price 1NE vs Cameron Smith 15

Majeski led the Over 40 contest from the start, with Lew Woods and Dallas Baer battling over second most of the way.2010 0731 York Fg Ryan Varnes 68 vs Colton Smith 42
