Louisiana Cross Country Series
Round 5: The Farm Country Classic

Reed, Reine Reign at the Farm

FORT NECESSITY, LA

Intense bar-to-bar racing took place in many classes at The Farm Country Classic this year, under nice, sunny skies, and with nice ground conditions - a perfect way to wrap up the first half of the 2010 season!2010 0530 The Farm Stephen Reed 1

Suzuki City's Stephen Reed (1, above, and below center) edged out KTM rider Chad Colvin for the holeshot in the XC1 Expert class and set off at a blistering pace around the fun 7-mile course. Suzuki City/ThermoProbe/Thumper Racing/Klim/Revloc-backed KTM rider Stephen Sturges (below left) kept Reed on his heels the entire race. Sturges took the lead at times and on the last lap showed Reed the front wheel a few times, but he couldn't quite make the pass, eventually coming in a mere one second behind Reed. After starting dead last, round four's overall winner, Warren Drilling/Pivot Works/Moose/Dunlop/House of Horsepower-backed KTM rider Bryan Vaughan, was able to make his way through the pack and finish fourth overall, behind Hutchinson's ATV Repair-sponsored Kawasaki jockey Kevin Hutchinson (below right), who secured third with his best finish so far this season.2010 0530 The Farm Podium

In the XC2 Expert Lites class, 15-year-old Evan Shows showed impressive speed on his Mike's Cycle Supply KTM, at times even leading the class ahead of defending Lites champion Jason Reine, on his Reine's Cycle/FMF KTM. Reine eventually made his way around young Shows, and then a couple of bobbles at the end of the race dropped Shows down to fourth. Chuck's Used Appliance/Performance Cycles-backed KTM rider Ryan Breaux fought his way up to second place, and Mike's Outdoors/Woods Tank-backed KTM rider Clint Woods finished in third place, recording another consistent podium result.

Spectators were thoroughly entertained at the BMW/Husqvarna Creek Jump and the Bayou Suspension Wall Of Death. These optional extreme obstacles were key factors in how several riders placed both in class and overall.
