Mt. Morris Pre-Race Notes:
Welcome to Cycle News' live Virtual Grandstand coverage of the SoBe High Point Nationals at the scenic Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania course, round #3 of the 2002 AMA / Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Nationals.
Mt. Morris often means a muddy weekend, but the rain gods took a vacation, and left Racer Productions with perfect conditions here at High Point Raceway. Forecast today is overcast, rain unlikely, and after last week's muddy set of second motos at Hangtown, the traveling motocross circus is looking forward to clear running this weekend.
James "Bubba" Stewart took a very hard hit to his knee yesterday in Saturday practice, and was questionable as to whether he'd be able to race today. He went out for practice, and still felt it big-time, but he's going to give it a go and see what happens in the race.
Mike LaRocco, Kevin Windham, and Travis Pastrana are among those still on the DL - LaRocco is expected to return to action within the next few events, Windham is still a question mark, and Pastrana's wrist injury may not take as long to heal as originally thought.
Team Suzuki has filled the empty slots in the factory SoBe Suzuki semi with bench racers Hamblin and Hurley.
Television coverage of today's event will be aired at noon to 1pm (EST) on Saturday, June 1 on ESPN2 for the 250cc class; the 125cc coverage will air at 12:30-1:30am on Thursday, June 6, also on ESPN2...check your local listing for air times.
Today's racing will begin @ 1:00PM Eastern.
