. 7/1/01 - National Motocross Series Rnd. 6: Red Bud
. Pre-Race Notes: It's cloudy, windy and cold, but the track looks great and we're ready to go...
. 125cc Moto #1:
. They are on the parade lap, checking out track...The holeshot goes to...Schnell followed by Narita, Pastrana and Ward...Pastrana moves into 2nd about 4 turns later...Budds Creek winner Mike Brown is back in about 8th spot...Pastrana is all over Schnell trying to get the lead...As they come around it's Schnell, Pastrana, Ward, Fonseca, Narita, Langston, Lamson, Pingree, K. Johnson and Brown...At the end of lap two Schnell is still leading, but Pastrana is right behind him. Ward also has closed the gap on the front 2 and is right behind Pastrana...Brown is making a move, he's up to 7th after 2 laps...Pastrana made the pass in the back section and pulls a couple bike length lead on the rest...Ward makes the pass on Schnell also to take over 2nd spot...Ward is starting to reel in Pastrana little by little...Fonseca just made the pass and moved into 3rd...

Running order Pastrana, Ward, Fonseca, Schnell, Langston, Brown, Pingree, Boniface and Narita...Pastrana has a 2 second lead right now over Ward...Not much passing going on. The top ten are pretty spread out...Brown went down and lost about 4 spots before he got going again...Pastrana and Ward have about a 10 second lead over 3rd place Fonseca...We think Brown has a flat rear he's all the way back to 14th spot...Langston is riding well after injuring his shoulder a few weeks ago...Ward is catching Pastrana on the booming 250F Yamaha...Not much passing going on at the moment...

Schnell ahs moved back up on Fonseca who is in the 3rd position...Running order Pastrana, Ward, Fonseca, Schnell, Langston, Pingree, Boniface, Ramsey, D. Smtih and Wey...2nd, 3rd and 4th are all 4-strokes...2-lap board is out for Pastrana and Ward...Schnell made the pass and took over 3rd spot from Fonseca...White flag for Pastrana, he's extended his lead a little over Ward...Lappers are playing a role now for the leaders...Pastrana and Ward were bar to bar and Ward went down on an off-camber turn but got up quickly and still holds 2nd spot...Pastrana wins with a big no footed whip over the finish. Ward was 2nd and Schnell was 3rd...

They are on the parade lap now...And the holeshot goes to...John Dowd on the big 520 4-stroke...followed by Carmichael and Windham...Carmichael takes the lead about 5 turns into it...The top guys did LaRocco's Leap even though there is a 20 mph wind...Running order is Carmichael, Windham, Tortelli, Hughes, Roncada, Ferry, Vuillemin, Reynard, LaRocco and Lusk...Carmichael has about a 4 second lead over Windham and Tortelli after about 3 laps...Tortelli is all over Windham...A few turns later Tortelli takes over 2nd spot from Windham...Roncada is all over Hughes whose in 4th spot...Running order Carmichael, Tortelli, Windham, Hughes, Roncada, Ferry, Dowd, LaRocco, Vuillemin, Reynard and Lusk...Tortelli has reeled in Carmichael, there's going to be a battle...The crowd is screamin and yelling as the leaders come by...Carmichael has pulled back away from Tortelli and there is a lapper in between him and Tortelli...Roncada is riding very well, he's gotten around Hughes and is holding down the 4th spot...

Not much passing going on right now...Windham is still holding down 3rd spot all by himself, he's about 15 seconds behind the leaders Carmichael and Tortelli...Tortelli made the pass on Carmichael and takes over the lead...Tortelli is starting to pull away from RC now...Running order Tortelli, Carmichael, Windham, Roncada, LaRocco, Hughes, Dowd, Ferry, Vuillemin, Reynard and Lusk...LaRocco is on the move, he started in about 11th and is up to 5th...Tortelli's lead is about 3 seconds over RC as the 2 lap board comes out...They are on the last lap and Tortelli is looking good for the win...Carmichael wins! Tortelli went down and he's pushing his bike to the finish line...Bad luck for Tortelli, he's dragging his bike up the finish line jump...

They just finished their parade lap, just a few moments until the start...The holeshot goes to...Ward followed by Fonseca and Lamson...Pastrana is back in 12th spot and Ward is extending his lead already...Running order is Ward, Fonseca, Lamson, Currie, Schnell, Langston, Ramsey, Jesseman, Sellards, D. Smith and Brown...Ward has about a 4 second lead over Fonseca...Lamson just got passed by Langston, he now moves into 3rd and is running down Fonseca...Brown is moving to the front quickly he's up to 6th spot...Langston makes the pass on Fonseca and moves into 2nd spot, but he;s got some work to catch Ward...Brown is up to 5th spot now...Lamson and Fonseca ar banging bars for 3rd spot...Running order Ward, Langston, Fonseca, Lamson, Brown, Currie, Pastrana, Schnell, Ramsey, Jesseman, D. Smith...Brown just passed Lamson and is all over Fonseca, they hit and Fonseca went down. Brown takes over 3rd now and is chasing down Langston...Langston is catching Ward now, he's about 3 seconds behind...Pastrana is in 6th now and he's all over Currie for 5th...

Langston has caught Ward...Brown is catching the leaders every lap by a little bit...Pastrana is up to 5th spot but he's about to get 4th spot from Lamson...Running order is Ward, Langston, Brown, Lamson, Pastrana, Jesseman, Currie, Shcnell, D. Smith, K. Smith...Pastrana gets by Lamson to take over 4th spot...Brown is catching the leaders, it's going to be a 3-way abttle in a second for the lead...Ward is looking good for the overall, because Pastrana is about 15 seconds back in 4th spot...2-lap board is out for the leaders...Ward is still riding strong, holding off Langston...White flag is out, we'll see if Ward can hold on for his first overall victory this season...Langston made a pass two turns from the end and takes the win...

. They are on the final parade lap of the weekend...And the holeshot goes to...John Dowd again followed by Roncada and Windham...There was a huge pile-up in the second turn and Tortelli is in dead last...Roncada is in the lead now followed by Dowd and Carmichael...RC is up to 2nd spot behind his teammate Roncada...Running order after 2 laps Roncada, RC, Windham, Dowd, Lusk, Hughes, Vuillemin, Ferry, Lewis...Carmichael takes over the lead and Windham got around Roncada also...Lusk just passed Dowd for 4th spot...RC and Windham are pulling away from everyone else already...Tortelli is up to 10th spot already...

Windham is all over Carmichael and he passes him over a tabletop to take the #1 spot...Windham and Carmichael have about a 15 second lead over Roncada in 3rd...It's so windy the tower might blow over...Vuillemin just went down in front of us pretty hard but he's up and going again...Carmichael passes Windham back for the lead...Hughes is all over Roncada and he made the pass to move into 3rd spot...

Running order Carmichael, Windham, Hughes, Roncada, Lusk, Dowd, Ferry, Tortelli, Reynard, Vuillemin and Lewis...2-lap board should be out shortly...Carmichael has pulled away from Windham a little...2-lap board is now out for RC...last lap of the day and Carmichael is cruising out in front...Carmichael wins followed by Hughes, Windham never came around...
