. 5/20/01 - National Motocross Series Rnd. 2: Hangtown
. Pre-Race Notes: Racing will start today at 1:00 PST. The conditions are just like last year, hot and humid.
. 125cc Moto #1:
. The parade lap was just finished...And the holeshot goes to...Larry Ward followed by Pingree and Ramsey...Ward has already pulled a lead on the rest of the field...Tedesco has moved up into 2nd spot about 10 bike lengths behind Ward...After the first lap Ward leads followed by Tedesco, Fonseca, and Jesseman...Tedesco made a mistake and Jesseman has taken over second spot...Pastrana is way back in 30th spot...Running order after 3 laps is Ward, Jesseman, Fonseca, Bonds, Langston, Hadsell, Pingree, K. Smith, Tedesco, Thain, Gosselaar...Fonseca has moved into 2nd spot now and is all over the back of Ward, and now Bonds is riding like wild man and has moved up onto Fonseca...The top three are almost three wide in the straight aways...Fonseca stuck a wheel in and took the lead from Ward...A completely different top five now, Langston, Fonseca, Ward, Bonds and Jesseman...

Langston is pulling away from Fonseca and the rest of the back...Ward went down for a split second and is back in 8th spot...Bonds has moved up to Fonsec'a rear tire trying to move into 2nd spot...The top 3 of Langston, Fonseca and Bonds are starting to pull away from the rest of the field...Running order at the halfway mark Langston, Fonseca, Bonds, Jesseman, K. Smith, Thain, Pingree, Gosselaar, Huffman, Tedesco, Ward...

Bonds has gotten around Fonseca and is reeling in Langston, he's on a terror right now, there's a lot of Pro Circuit guys cheering him on...KTM has three guys in the top ten...Bonds is only about 2 bike lengths behind Langston...Thain is making a move on Smith trying to take over 4th spot...Thain outran Smith on the downhill and takes over 4th...Pastrana is still back in 15th spot...

Bonds is riding great he's still all over Langston and even out-jumping him on spots on the track...Bonds just got up next to Langston, but Langston pulled back away...2 lap board just came out for the leaders...Langston seems to never make a mistake even with pressure...The crowd is crazy right now everyone is cheering for the leaders...White flag is out...Langston still looking good...Langston wins followed by Bonds, Fonseca, Thain and Kelly Smith

They are on the parade lap right now...And the holeshot goes to...Hughes on the big 450F and Vuillemin passes him two turns later...Carmichael is about midpack as well as Ferry...Hughes slid out and can't restart the bike, now he's dead last...Order Vuillemin, Windham, Tortelli, Dowd, LaRocco and Reynard...Povolny just slid out and his bike is in the lake...Vuillemin looking strong out in front...Carmichael is all the way up to 6th spot now...Roncada and Ferry both went down...The top 3 are all together Vuillemin, Windham, Tortelli...

Windham is making a move for the lead, sticking a wheel in here and there...Windham takes over the lead from Vuillemin...Tortelli got around Vuillemin also to move into 2nd spot...Running order Windham, Tortelli, Vuillemin, LaRocco, Carmichael, Reynard, Narita, Preston, Lewis, Thomas, Dowd, McCormick, Lamastus, Walters...Carmichael is catching LaRocco and the leaders... Tortelli is allover Windham...They come together and Windham shot off the track and ebters back on in 3rd spot...There is going to be a 5 way battle for the lead in a lap or two, Carmichael and LaRocco are catching the top 3...Half way flags are out...Windham, LaRocco and RC are all over each other...LaRocco gets around Windham...

RC and Windham are banging bars for 5th spot...Carmichael gets the position from Windham...Running order Tortelli, Vuillemin, LaRocco, Carmichael, Windham, Reynard...Carmichael went down in the back section and Windham takes over 4th spot...LaRocco takes over 2nd place from Vuilemin, Honda 1-2...They finally got Povolny's bike out of the lake...Tortelli has about a 8 second lead over LaRocco...

Everyone is spread Tortelli is lapping everyone...2 lap board is out for Tortelli who has a pretty good size lead...Tortelli just lapped his teammate Lusk...White flag out for the leaders...Tortelli is cruising out in front, everyone looks super tired out there, it's about 98 degrees here...Tortelli wins followd by LaRocco, Vuillemin, Windham and RC...

The riders are on the parade lap right now...And the holeshot goes to...Keith Johnson, the ex-Cannondale rider...Brandes moves into the lead then Fonseca...Brandes has a good lead over Fonseca about 15 bike lengths...Mike Brown is pushing his bike across the infield...Running order after 2 laps Brandes, Fonseca, Bonds, Langston, Ward, Keith Johnson, Sellards, Kevin Johnson, Lamson, Sheak...

Bonds is all over Fonseca for second spot and Langston is gaining on them both...Brandes has a 7 second lead over Fonseca and Bonds...Bonds looked to the inside of Fonseca, but the four-stroke just pulls out of the corners...Pastrana is up to 7th spot after about 6 laps...Running order Brandes, Fonseca, Bonds, Langston, Sellards, Ward, Lamson, Pastrana, Sheak, K. Johnson, Jesseman...Smoke just poured out of Fonseca's bike and he is pulled over, now Bonds is in 2nd trying to hunt down Brandes. Langston is coming also, there's going to be a good battle soon...Bonds has cut Brandes lead and then made the pass he's now leading with Langston in 3rd...Langston just made the pass on Brandes for 2nd spot...Pastrana is up to 4th spot now...Running order Bonds, Langston, Brandes, Pastrana, Sellards, Sheak, Ward, Thain, Jesseman, D. Smith, K. Smith, Ramsey, Wey...

Bonds fell but kept the bike running and Langston closed up the gap...Pastrana has passed Brandes for 3rd spot and trying to chase down the leaders...Pastrana is looking over at the leaders over each jump to see if he's gaining...The leaders are actually pulling away...Bonds and Langston collide and Bonds went down...Lanston is all by himself about 15 second in front of Pastrana...

2 lap board is out for Langston...Langston is pointing to the crowd and waving, the crowd loves this kid...Langston wins followed by Pastrana.

They are on the last parade lap of the day...And the holeshot goes to...Timmy Ferry followed by Windham and Vuillemin...Windham jumps into the lead and pulls away from the pack...Vuillemin moves up into 2nd spot now followed by Ferry....Carmichael is up to 4th spot now followed by his teammate Roncada...Ferry has passed Vuillemin and moved back into 2nd spot behind Windham. He's starting to reel Windham in a little...

Ferry just made the pass on Windham to take over the lead...Running order Ferry, Windham, Carmichael, Vuillemin, Roncada, Tortelli, LaRocco, Dowd, Atsuta, Walters, Lewis...Carmichael has pulled up to Windham, trying to get the 2nd spot...Carmichael just dove inside of Windham and took 2nd spot...Carmichael is reeling in Ferry, we'll see if he can hold him off...Carmichael is all over Ferry for the lead. He takes the lead from Ferry...

Running order Carmichael, Ferry, Windham, Tortelli, Vuillemin, LaRocco, Roncada, Atsuta, Lewis, Dowd, Walters...Carmichael has stretched his lead out a little over Ferry. The man on the move is Tortelli, he's catching 3rd place Windham...Tortelli and Windham are dicing it up...Not much going on right now...Carmichael has extended his lead over Ferry to about 6 or 7 seconds...Tortelli finally got by Windham after about a 2 lap battle...Tortelli should have the overall if he finishes where he is...Carmichael is coming around for the checkers...Carmichael wins followed by Ferry and Tortelli...
