Glen Helen Prequel Pre-Race Notes:

Welcome to the unofficial start to the outdoor summer motocross season. We're here at what is traditionally the first weekend of the Motocross Nationals, for years held on Mother's Day.

This year brings change though; the AMA shifted the date for the Glen Helen MX National from this weekend as the traditional opener to September as the series final. Many industry people and fans alike had expressed their opinion that Mother's Day shouldn't require a major event, and there was also some call for a weekend off between the end of the Supercross series and the first round of the outdoor MX Nationals.

Meanwhile, Glen Helen had a now-clear date on the calendar, and many of the factory teams and privateers are heavy in the middle of testing for the outdoors. A number of top-level riders have not been seen in recent months as they recover from their various injuries, and some major event the weekend before the official opening round of the Nationals allows them the opportunity to get in some last-minute testing and track time at full speed.

So - settle in this afternoon and enjoy the events as they unfold. The Pro classes for the Primm MX Collection Prequel will begin at 12:30pm PST today. Here's the order of events: 1st 125 Pro Moto at 12:30pm (30 minutes + 2 laps); 1st 250 Pro Moto at 1:30pm (30 minutes + 2 laps); 2nd 125 Pro Moto at 3pm (30 minutes + 2 laps); 2nd 250 Pro Moto (30 minutes + 2 laps). Don't forget to make plans to do something nice for your Mom tomorrow...

Troy Lee Designs has had a long relationship supporting the Glen Helen facility, and has designed & provided the awesome trophies that will be handed out at the end of today. Today's event - while AMA sanctioned - will not count with any points toward the Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships. There's plenty on the line, as the riders who have chosen to enter today will be competing for a hefty total $20,000.00 purse.

The Warthog is in the house! - Wonder Warthog Racing, which was launched as a grass-roots movement on the Internet as a way to support the privateers during the '04 Supercross Series is easing into the outdoors as well. Glen Helen has joined the cause today by waiving the entry fees for any and all riders who enter and qualify for the 125 & 250 Pro motos. That allowed WWR to pick up the costs of the entries for all the Women racers competing today as well. Look for the Warthog to be supporting the privateers at the outdoor nationals by rewarding the privateers who are doing well throughout the summer season.

So, who's racing today? Big-name pros are still rolling through the gate, and we'll know a lot more when they line up at the gate if there are any significant last-minute additions. For now, here are the entry lists:

Weather Report: Nice. Strong breeze late this morning, high temps should be in the mid-80s. Nicer than it will be in the middle of September...

Today also will be the first round of the WMA (Womens Motocross Association) National Motocross Series. They'll have two full 20-minute motos on the Glen Helen course.

125cc Moto One:

They're on the parade lap now....... the gate drops, and the holeshot goes to..... Brown, followed by Sellards, Danny Smith and Millsaps. the running order after one lap is Brown, Kelly Smith, Danny Smith, Chaussee, Millsaps, Grant, Sellards.

Brown is starting to pull a five bike length lead, Millsaps and Grant just got around Chaussee for fourth and fifth place. Donnie Mcgourty is on the move and is now runnig in eighth place

K. Smith and Brown are now going at it and banging bars for the lead.... Millsaps and Grant now have a good battle for fourth place now..... Millsaps and Grant have now caught D. Smith for third and are trying to get by.......

The running order after five laps is Brown, K. Smith, D. Smith, Millsaps, Grant, Sellards, Mcgourty, Chaussee, Laughridge, Maier......Millsaps just got around D. Smith for third and Grant just followed for fourth pushing D. Smith back to fifth.....

Millsaps and Grant have now caught up the the back tire of K. Smith.... We just got word that Kelly Smith has banners caught in his front brake rotor...... Millsaps is all over the track trying to get around Smith..... Grant is all over the rear wheel of Millsaps..... Millsaps is slowing down with possible bike problems..... Grant caught up to Smith....... Brown has about a 4 second lead on Smith followed by Grant, D. Smith, Sellards, McGourty, Chaussee, Maier, Laughridge....... Collier.....

Millsaps is now running again, Grant just got around K. Smith for second and is on the move...... the running order after 20 minutes is Brown, Grant, K. Smith, D. Smith, Sellards, McGourty, Maier, Chaussee, Collier, Laughridge, Costella, Northrop, Thain.....

Grant has now closed in on Brown as the two lap board goes out.... Sellards just got around D. Smith for fourth ..... the white flag goes out with Brown five seconds ahead of Grant..... and as the checkered flag comes out it's...... Brown, Grant, K. Smith, Sellards, D. Smith, McGourty, Maier, Chausee, Collier, Laughridge, Costella, Northrop, Thain, Owens.....

Langston and Hamblin have started to pull away from the rest of the pack...Hamblin pulls up along side Langston for a second but Langston holds on to the lead...Hamblin seems to be just following Langston, maybe checking his lines...

Langston swaps a little and Hamblin takes over the lead and is putting a little of a gap on Langston...Langston is now putting pressure on Hamblin now. We have a good battle shaping up...Langston gets back by Hamblin now as they are finishing lap 3...

Running order is Langston, Hamblin, Anderson, Wey, Amaradio, Stiles, Paget and Decker...They are coming around to finish lap 4 and Langston is still holding off Hamblin, but he is all over his rear tire. He's trying to pass...Hamblin just jumped right past Langston for the lead...

Hamblin put a little bit of a lead on Langston now...Amaradio has passed Stiles and moved into 4th....Running order is Hamblin, Langston, Anderson, Wey, Stiles, Decker, Paget, Amaradio, Oehlhof...Decker is doing the Canadian Nationals this summer for Suzuki Canada...

Langston has kind of backed off of Hamblin a little, maybe just checking his lines and saving energy...Halfway flags just came out...Anderson is starting to catch Langston and Hamblin...Wey is all by himself in 4th, then Stiles and Decker...

Langston stalls the bike at the bottom of Yamaha mountain and Anderson now moves into 2nd place and Wey is now in 3rd and Langston has dropped to 4th...Bobby Bonds the Team Green WORCS regular is running in 20th...

Hamblin has a 5 second lead over Anderson...Langston is charging back up and has caught Nick Wey...

Running order is Hamblin, Anderson, Wey, Langston, Stiles, Decker, Oehlhof and Paget...Langston has gotten around Wey and moves back uo to 3rd spot now...Decker has gotten around Wey and moves into 4th spot...

Anderson is slowly reeling in Hamblin as the laps are winding down...Hamblin takes a peak back and sees Anderson gettinbg closer...Decker has gotten around Langston and takes over 3rd...2 lap board is out now...

White flag is out for Hamblin now...Bonds has a flat tire and is just cruising around...The checkers are out for Hamblin as he takes the win...Anderson gets second and Decker round out the podium...

Lap 1: As they come around, Davi Millsaps leads Lap 1...Brown crashed in the first turn, he's back up & charging...

Lap 2: For the running order, it's Millsaps, Sellards, Kelly Smith, Laughridge, Owens, Chaussee, Grant...the factory Suzuki of Millsaps is running hard at the front, the track has become choppy in some of the high-speed sections...Millsaps continues to lead...

Lap 3: Millsaps, Sellards, Smith, Grant, Owens, Chaussee run at the front...Sellards, Grant, and Kelly Smith are all potentials for the overall 125 class win...

Lap 4: Millsaps carries about a 3 second lead over Sellards, then it's Kelly Smith, Grant, Owens, Chausee, Collier...Brown is still trying to work his way forward, up to 11th place so far...rookie Josh Grant is making an impressive showing today...

Lap 5: Millsaps is beginning to get pressure from Sellards, the gap is now down to 2 seconds and closing, then comes Kelly Smith, Josh Grant, Chaussee...Mike Brown has moved into 10th...Danny Smith, who crashed earlier is back up & trying to improve his position...

Lap 6: Millsaps continues to lead Brock Sellards, then it's a good gap back to Kelly Smith, and then Josh Grant...

Lap 7: Millsaps and Sellards continue to battle for the lead, Josh Grand is also applying pressure to Kelly Smith in a great race for 3rd, then Chaussee and Collier are battling for 5th..Brown comes up in 7th got by Collier to move to 6th and pressures Chaussee to make a bid for 5th...we're at the halfway point in the moto...

Lap 8: The track's continuing to get rougher through the moto, as Millsaps and Sellards swap their way around the Glen Helen course...Grant is all over Kelly Smith, trying to effect a pass for 3rd...Kelly Smith tries to hold off Josh Grant, Smith parked Grant in a corner...

Lap 9: Millsaps still leads while Sellards keeps him in sight...Sellards makes his move, comes up on Millsaps' wheel, then Kelly Smith still holding off Josh Grant...Brown is now solidly 5th...

Lap 10: Running order as the race begins to wind down is Millsaps (still with strong pressure from Sellards), then Kelly Smith with a little cushion over Josh Grant, then Brown, Collier, Chaussee, Owens, Maier, Lord, Northrup, Fasciott...

Lap 11: Sellards is still keeping right with Millsaps, and Kelly Smith is getting strong pressure from Josh Grant...that battle for 3rd is about to become a 3-way shootout as Mike Brown reels them in...then it's Collier in 6th...Collier rides for the Motosport Outlet team, and team trainer Marty Smith recently predicted big things for the young Honda rider...

Lap 12: Millsaps still keeping Sellards just 1 second back, then Josh Grant stuffs his way past Kelly Smith, Smith takes the position right back...Brown smells blood as he moves up on the battling duo...this race is getting even better as it comes down to the wire...Brown moves past Josh Grant to get into the 4th-pace spot, now looking for a way around his teammate Kelly Smith...if Brown can take a 1-4 today, he should be able to beat Sellards on the overall the way they're calculating today...let's see how it shakes out...

Lap 13: White flag, last lap...Order is still Millsaps, Sellards, Smith, Brown, Grant...if Sellards gets by Millsaps he'll be able to take the overall...Brown passed Kelly Smith to move into 3rd...at the finish it's Millsaps, Sellards, Brown - takes the overall win -, then it's Kelly Smith, Grant, Collier, Chaussee, Maier, Owens, Northrup, Facciott, Laughridge...

Well it looks as if Grant Langston is not racing the second moto, he is spectating in street clothes and is looking mighty comfortable.

They are on the parade lap right now..... the board goes up, the gate drops, and the holeshot goes to...... Rusty Holland, followed by Tony Armaradio...... Anderson just moved into third place... Hamblin looks to be around seventh......

As they come around to take the green flag it's Holland, Anderson, Hamblin, Amaradio, Ward, Mahoney, Wey...... it's a three way battle for the lead, Hamblin just got around both for the lead with Anderson following right behind....

Anderson is starting to real in Hamblin and they are starting to gap the rest of the field.....Wey is starting to put pressure on Mahoney for the number 6 spot..... Mahoney fell out of the lead pack.... Decker is starting to get on the leaders pace, and is realing in the front runners....

After six laps the running order is Hamblin, Anderson, Holland, Wey, Amaradio, Decker, Stiles, Paget, Ward, Oehlof, Hadsell.... not much action right now, Hamblin is extending his lead to 6 1/2 seconds.... The halfway signal just came out, and everyone is starting to spread out and take settle into position....

Decker has moved around Holland and on to the back wheel of Wey..... Wey is doing everything he can do to keep Decker behind him.... With a little contact, Decker just got around for the third position......After about 20 minutes the running order is Hamblin, Anderson, Decker, Wey, Holland, Stiles, Paget, Amaradio, Ward, Oehlof, Aubert.....

Hamblin is stretching out his lead.... the two lap board is out now, Hamblin is way out in front...... Hamblin takes the white flag with a 10 second lead...... Hamblin takes the checkered flag, followed by Anderson, Decker, Wey, Stiles, Holland, Paget, Amaradio, Ward, Aubert.
