Washougal Pre-Race Notes:


Welcome to today's coverage of the AMA Chevrolet Motocross Nationals at Washougal, WA. Today's coveraqe is brought to you by Yamaha.

Today marks the return of several notable riders. Doug Henry makes his once a year return to racing, on his Troy Lee Designs Honda. Also, Ezra Lusk is back after a injury during the Supercross season.

In the 125cc class, Stephane Roncada makes hie return after sitting out the previous round in Troy, OH. One rider that will be a spectator today is Branden Jesseman. He had some problems in the qualifiers and did make todays main event.

The weather is about 85 degrees, and it looks to be a great day of racing. Be sure to check out the full story in next week's Cycle News....


125cc Moto One:


Thay are on the parade lap now, after the National Anthem we will be under way.

The gate drops, and the holeshot goes to........ carpenter, followed by local favorite Ryan Huffman..... Afeter one lap the running order is Carpenter, Hepler, Huffman, Hansen, Gosselaar, Stewart....

Josh Grant went down, and is running in dead last. Carpenter now has built up a 5 second lead over Hepler in second. Stewart has now moved into the third spot, and is gaining on Hepler. Stewart just got around Hepler and is now in second.

After 4 laps the running order is Carpenter, Stewart, Hepler, Hansen, Gossellar, Adams, Brown, Ramsey, Narita, Walker, Millsaps, Hurley, D. Smith, Huffman.... Stewart is gaining some ground on Carpenter, and just got by him for the lead....

Carpenter is not letting Stewart check out, and is putting a gap on Hepler in third. Ivan Tedesco is starting to pick up the pace, and is now in fifth place.... Matt walker is also on the move, he just got by Hansen, Brown and Ramsey.....

Hepler is picking up the pace, and is now within 1 second of Carpenter.... Matt Walker has now got around Tedesco and is running in the fifth spot. Stewart is still out in fron followed by Carpenter, Hepler, Gossellar, Walker, Tedesco, Narita, Ramsey, D. smith, Adams, Hansen, Metcalfe....

Hepler just got around Carpenter for the second spot, and is starrting to put some time on him in third place. Danny Smith just got around Narita, and it looks lie the Japaneise rider is slowing down. Matt Walker just moved up tot he rear fender of Gossellar, and is looking to get around.

Paul Carpenter has just gotten back around Hepler for second, and Matt Walker just got around the Honda of Gossellar. As the two lap boaed comes out the running order is Stewart, Capenter, Hepler, Walker, Gossellar, Tedesco, Ramsey, D. smith, Adams, Hughes, Metcalfe, Mills, Millsaps, Schnell, Hansen, Hurley.....

James Stewart just took the white flag, and Hepler got back around Carpenter for second. Ramsey is all over Tedesco for the sixth spot. Stewart takes the win followed by Hepler, Carpenter, Walker, Gossellar, Ramsey, Tedesco, D. Smith, Adams, Hughes, Metcalfe, Mills, Schnell, Hansen and Millsaps.

250cc Moto One:


They are on the parade lap now...

The gate drops and the holeshot goes to..... Oehloff, followed by Rusty Holland. As they come off the ski jump it's Rusty Holland, followed by Oehlof, Reed, Carmichael, rodrigues, Windham, Thomas.

Doug Henry is running in the 20th spot. After one lap the running order is Reed, Carmichael, Windham, Holland, Rodrigues, Oehlof, Lusk, Vuillemin. Carmichael just got by Reed to take the lead, and Windham is right in the mix in third.

Carmichael is starting to put a little gap on Chad Reed in second. Windham is all over Reed, and is looking for a way around the supercross champ. After ten minutes the running order is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Rodrigues, Vuillemin, Fonseca, Lusk, Lewis, Wey, Holland, Byrne, Thomas, Tortelli, Oehlof, Hamblin, Casey Johnson

Windham is all over Reed, but they are no where near Carmichael out in front. Johnny Aubert is out of the race, and is heading back to the pits Carmichael now has a 10 second lead on Reed and Windham is 5 secends back in third.

The pack of Vuillemin, Fonseca, and Lusk have coought up to the back tire of Rodrigues, and they are starting to put some pressure on the KTM rider. At the halfway mark the running order is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Vuillemin, Fonseca, Lusk, Rodrigues, Lewis, Wey, Tortelli, Thomas, Hamblin, C. Johnson, Oehlof.

Heath Voss has just pulled of the track, and is heading back to the pits. Carmichael now has a 15 second lead on Reed, and is on cruise control out in front. Both Lewis and Wey have gotten around Rodrigues and Tortelli is right behind them. The two lap board has just came out.

Carmichael takes the white flag. Casey Johnson has got around Hamblin for the 13th spot. Carmichael takes the win, followed by Reed, Windham, Vuillemin, Lusk, Fonseca, Lewis, Wey, Tortelli, Rodrigues, Byrne, Thomas, C. Johnson, Hamblin, Thain.

After one lap the running order is Schnell, Millsaps, Ramsey, Short, Tedesco, Stewart, Grant, Carpenter, Brown, D. Smith, Hurley....

Millsaps is doinf everything he can to get around Schnell for the lead. Millsaps just got around, and Stewart is now in third. Stewart just got around schnell for second. Stewart is now in the lead

The running order after three laps is Stewart, Millsaps, Schnell, Ramsey, Tedesco, Short, Grant, Brown, Carpenter, D. Smith, Hurley, Hepler, Adams, Narita Gray.... Stewart now has a 10 second lead on the second place Millsaps. Both Short and Brown got around Grant, and Carpenter is close to making a pass on the rookie as well

Matt Walker has pulled out of the race. Grant, Brown, and Hepler haave gotten around Short, and moved him into the 8th spot. Scnell is now on the rear tire of Millsaps, but Millsaps is holding him off. Hepler just moved around Grant and is now starting to push Brown for the 6th spot....

Schnell just got around Millsaps for the second spot, and is starting to pull away. Nate Ramsey just put a move on Tedesco for the fourth spot. The running order after 25 minutes is Stewart, Schnell, Millsaps, Ramsey, Tedesco, Hepler, Brown, Grant, D. Smith, Carpenter, Short, Adams, Hurley, Gossellar, Hughes, Gray, Mills, Collier.....

The two lap board just came out, and Stewart is gone. Ramsey just went down, and let Tedesco get by.... Hepler is now all over Tedesco for the third place spot.... Stewart now has a 10 second lead on Greg Schnell in second. Stewart just took the white flag.

Hepler just got around Tedesco, but Tedesco is not letting him go.... Stewart takes the win followed by Schnell, Millsaps, Hepler, Tedesco, Ramsey, Brown, Grant, D. Smith, Carpenter, Adams, Short, Hughes, Hurley, Gossellaar.

The gate drops, and the holeshot goes to..... Carmicheal, followed by Reedand Windham. After they come around the running order is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Voss, Rodrigues, Wey, Lusk, Vuillemin..... Doug Henry came around in dead last.

Carmichael is starting to put a gap on Reed, and Reed is pulling away from Windham..... the running order is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Wey, Vuillemin, Lusk, Fonseca, Byrne, Tortelli,C. Johnson, Thain, Tortelli, Hamblin....

Carmichael has already checked out. Windham is all alone is the third spot. Tortelli is all over Casey Johnson for the eighth spot, and he just got around. Carmichael now has a 10 second lead on the second place Reed.

The running order after the halfway mark is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Wey, Vuillemin, Fonseca, Lusk, Byrne, Tortelli, C. Johnson, Hamblin, Thain, Gibson, Clark, Rodrigues... Tortelli just got around Byrne, and is pushing Fonseca.....

Kevin Windham is now 12 seconds behind Reed in third. Vuillemin is all over Wey for the fourth spot. Sebastien Tortelli is all on the move, he just got past Fonseca, and is catching Vuillemin for fifth.

David Vuillemin has fell off the pace, Tortelli, Fonseca, and Byrne all moved by. After 25 minutes the runing order is Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Wey, Tortelli, Fonseca, Byrne, Vuillemin, Lusk, C. Johnson, Hamblin, Thain, Clark, Gibson, Thomas, Abrigo....

Sebastien Tortelli just got around Nick Wey for the fourth place spot, and the top two-stroke. Michael Byrne just fell in a corner, and let Lusk by. the two-lap board just came out.

Ricky Carmichael just took the white flag, and he is cruise control... Carmichael takes the win! Followed by Reed, Windham, Tortelli, Wey, Fonseca, Vuillemin, Lusk, Byrne, C. Johnson, Hamblin, Thain, Clark, Gibson, Clark
