| Budds Creek, MD Pre-Race Notes: |
The weather is about 85 degrees, with little humidity in the air, it is a great day for racing. The track is in beautiful shape, the Budds Creek crew did an excellent job of prepping the track after a healthy dose of rain on Thursday evening.
There is no major news this week to report, all the riders are excited and ready to race.

Lap 13 - Stewart is flashed the 2-lap sign, now 38 seconds ahead of Mike Brown...Hepler still right behind Brown, making it a strong race for 2nd right down to the end of the moto...after that it's Gosselaar in 4th, then Troy Adams, Roncada, Blose, Sellards, Grant, D. Smith, K. Smith, Millsaps, Walker, Hurley, Metcalfe, Mills, Ramsey down in 17th, Gray, Goerke, Laughridge, Weigand, Nye, Carpenter, Thain, and Whitcraft...
Lap 14 - Last lap as Stewart sees the white flag...Stewart now 40 seconds ahead...Hepler still close to Brown, within about 2 seconds, but no closer than the last time around...Sellards and SMith are all over Josh Grant, making that a big push for 8th place...

The 250 riders are out on the parade lap...perennially popular privateer Barry Carsten is rockin' the Wonder Warthog cape...they're now lining up on the Budd's Creek starting gate...
The first 250 holeshot today goes to Yamaha's Chad Reed followed by Vuillemin, Ferry, Carmichael...Hamblin and Wey crashed in turn 1, Hamblin's holding his shoulder & might be hurt...running order is Reed, Voss, Vuillemin, Carmichael, Byrne, Fonseca, K. Johnson, WIndham, Neese, Povolny, Rodriges, Rhoades, Holland, Maximoff, Butler, Ferry, Hofmaster, Aubert, Karlsen, Mason, Gibson, Modjewski, Wey back up & running...
Lap 2 - Reed leads as they come around to begin the second lap, Carmichael is up to 2nd, less than a second behind...about 4 seconds back, Voss is running 3rd, then it's Vuillemin, Byrne, WIndham, Fonseca, K. Johnson, Povolny, Neese, Rodrigues, Ferry, Holland, Maximoff, Hofmaster on his first ride for the Motoworld Suzuki team...Carmichael passes Reed around the outside...Carmichael moves to the lead...
Lap 3 - Carmichael leads Reed by 1.6 seconds, then it's 8.5 seconds back already to Heath Voss, still holding off Vuillemin, barely for now...Windham is only a second behind Vuillemin, and that's turning into a tremendous battle for 3rd...Byrne lies about 4 seconds back, pursued by Fonseca...Reed's still keeping Carmichael in sight, RC not able to check out yet...Fonseca's being bothered by his chest protector or kidney belt, trying to figure out how to get rid of it without losing any time to Byrne ahead of him...
Lap 4 - Carmichael still only 2 seconds ahead of Reed, then now 14 seconds back to Voss, still holding off Vuillemin in 3rd...Vuillemin getting pressure from Windham, and their positions are about ready to start mixing it up...4 seconds back to Byrne, who has Fonseca right on his tail...
Lap 5 - Vuillemin moves into 3rd, putting Voss to 4th, and Windham still right there in 5th...Ferry's way back down in 25th, Hamblin's out of the moto...up front, Carmichael has begun to get just a little more distance on Reed, about 4.2 seconds in the lead...from Reed, it's still over 17 seconds back to Vuillemin, Voss still holding off Windham...
Lap 6 - More distance for Carmichael over Reed, now with a 6 second lead...20 seconds back to Vuillemin in 3rd, then it's Voss - still holding off Windham, actually with about a 3 second cushion...Byrne running 6th, just ahead of Fonseca, then it's Povolny, Rodrigues, Aubert, Holland, Wey, Neese, K. Johnson, Gibson, Stiles, maximoff, Mason, Corder, Anderson, Hadsell, Lewis, Karlsen, Ferry,and Thomas...
Lap 7 - Carmichael continuing to extend his lead over Reed, now 7.5 seconds ahead...21 seconds back to Vuillemin...Voss getting reeled back in by Windham again, K-dub's only about a second adrift...Byrne is being stalked by Fonseca as they run 6-7...
Lap 8 - Carmichael is well on his way, now running over 8 seconds ahead of Reed...Vuillemin alone in 3rd, now Windham puts the move on Voss to move into 3rd, Voss now 4th, then Byrne still ahead of Fonseca, then Povolny up to 8th, then Rodrigues, Aubert, Wey, Holland, Gibson, K. Johnson, Neese, Mason, Maximoff, Stiles, Anderson, Lewis, Ferry back up to 21st & gaining, Jason Thomas, Corder, Hadsell, and Karlsen...
Lap 9 - No significant change in Carmichael's 9 second lead over Reed...Vuillemin 27 seconds back...Carmichael goes down, stalls the bike and as he's getting back up, Reed blows by to take the lead...Carmichael is back underway, and right after Reed...Carmichael snatches the lead back from Reed, looks like Reed didn't put up a very big fight...
Lap 10 - Carmichael and Reed running close together, about a second apart now...Vuillemin 28 seconds back, Windham 10 seconds back from there...Vuillemin and Windham running similar lap times, may not be enough time for anything to change between those two...
Lap 11 - Carmichael leads Reed by about 4 seconds, amazing that RC was able to not lose his composure and regain & keep his lead...the two continue to gap Vuillemin, now 37 seconds back, then 10 seconds to Windham, 7+ seconds to Voss, Byrne and Fonseca still close, then Povolny about 23 seconds further back...
Lap 12 - Carmichael ahead of Reed by just over 5 seconds, then still 37 seconds back to Vuillemin, who's 11 seconds ahead of Windham...Ferry still trying to improve his position, getting back up to 15th for the #15 rider...
Lap 13 - Two laps remaining, Carmichael re-extending his lead to just under 7 seconds over Reed...40 seconds back to Vuillemin now...Windham 12 seconds back from there in 4th...then Voss, Byrne still just over a second ahead of Fonseca...
Lap 14 - White flag, last lap...Reed has reeled Carmichael back in, crossing the line just a couple seconds apart as Reed wicks it up towart the finish...Carmichael is aware of where Reed is though, and pins it to keep ahead on the final lap...
At the finish, the first 250cc moto win goes to Ricky Carmichael, followed in by Chad Reed, David Vuillemin, Kevin Windham, Heath Voss, Ernesto Fonseca swooped in to grab 6th, then Michael Byrne, Johnny Aubert, James Povolny, Nick Wey, Jeff Gibson, Rusty Holland, Clark Stiles, Tim Ferry in 14th, Jim Neese, Craig Anderson, Jason Thomas, Mmike Corder, Matt Karlsen, Brad Modjewski, Kyle Lewis, Ty Hadsell, Kevin Johnson, Matt Maximoff, and Justin Mace.

It's intermission time at Budd's Creek...take a half-hour break, and we'll be back with the program at 3:30pm EST...
They are on the parade lap right now...... The gate drops, and the holeshot goes to..... Sellards, followed by Tedesco, Hepler, K. Smith...... Stewart has already moved into the #4 spot, and is closing.
Lap 1. As they come across to take the green flag the running order is Tedesco, Hepler, Stewart, Sellards, Walker, K. Smith, Grant, Adams, Metcalfe....
Lap 2. Stewart aleady got around Tedesco and is starting to check out..... There is a 5 second gap from Tedesco to Sellards, who has moved in to #3 position.....
Lap 3. Stewart now has a 6 second lead on Tedesco, Hepler is all over Sellards for third. The running order is Stewart, Tedesco, Sellards, Hepler, Walker, K. Smith, Grant, Adams, Gossellaar, Scnell, Mills, Brown, Hughes.....
Lap 4. Stewart is gone. There is a good battle now going between Hepler, Sellards, and Walker. After a first turn crash, Roncada is beginning to pick up the pace, but is running in the 20's.....Walker just got around Sellards and Hepler to take over the third spot.......
Lap 5. Stewart continues to build his lead, now he has a 18 sedcond lead on Tedesco, followed by Walker, Hepler, Sellards, K. Smith, Grant, Adams, Gossellaar, Mills, Brown, Schnell, Metcalfe, Hughes, Millsaps....
Lap 8. Millsaps just got around Hughes, and Brian Gray is now behind Hughes and is pressuring.... Hepler just got around Walker for the third spot, and he is starting to make up some time on Tedesco....
Lap 10. Stewart almost has a half a track leaqd on Tedesco, and is gaining some time.... Josh Grant is on the move, he jsut moved around Walker to take the fourth spot.... Grant just went down and is now behind Sellards....

Lap 1. Carmichael now has 3 second lead over Reed followed by Vuillemin, Byrne, Povolny, Ferry, Fonseca, Anderson....
Lap 2. Carmichael's lead is now up to 7 seconds over Reed..... The top three are seperated.... Ferry just got arounf Byrne and Polvolny for the #4 spot. Windham is starting to move through the pack after a bad start.....
Lap 4. The running order after 4 laps is Carmichael, Reed, Vuillemin, Ferry, Byrne, Fonseca, Polvolny, Anderson, Windham, Neese, Rodrigues, Stiles, Voss, Corder.....
Lap 6. Carmichael has stretched his lead to 10 seconds over Reed and is pulling away.... Reed has a 15 seconds lead over Vuillemin in third.... Windham is on the rear tire of Fonseca and is trying to find a way around....
Lap 8. Windham got around Fonseca and is starting to put presure on Byrne...... Windham just got around Byrne for the #5 spot... Carmichael is on cruise control now, and is starting to reach the lappers....
Lap 10. The pack is spread out now... Fonseca just pulled up to the rear tire of Byrne.... Fonseca is all over Byrne, Byren is slamming the door in every turn...
The 2 minute board just came out.... Carmichael is on cruise control, he's going to get his 100th victory!.... Byrne is doing every thing he can to hold Fonseca.....
Last Lap. Carmichael is cruising in front, and enjoying a huge lead... Carmichael takes the checkered flag, followed by Reed, Vuillemin, Ferry, Windham, Byrne, Fonseca, Anderson, Voss, Povolny, Lewis, Rodrigues, Aubert, Stiles, Thomas, Wey.
