(Southwick, MA, June 29, 2013) – Eli Tomac used a 1-2 moto tally to score an impressive win in the 250 class at round six of the 2013 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series at MX 338 Raceway in Southwick, Massachusetts.

Tomac got off to a top-five start in moto one before moving his GEICO Honda into the lead before the end of the opening lap.

In the meantime, series point leader Ken Roczen and his Red Bull KTM teammate Marvin Musquin were both caught up in a first turn pileup and finished the first lap in 11th and 24th, respectively.

While Tomac pulled away out front, Roczen and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett battled over second, with Baggett taking advantage of a late-race crash by Roczen to coast home for an easy second, some 16 seconds behind Tomac.

Roczen settled for third, with GEICO Honda teammates Justin Bogle and Zach Osborne in fourth and fifth.

Roczen edged out Musquin to grab the holeshot in moto two, as the two riders instantly opened up a lead on the rest of the pack. Meanwhile, Baggett and Tomac were both outside the top-10 at the end of lap one.

Tomac put on an amazing charge though the pack, moving up to fifth by lap five and into second by lap 11. By that time, however, Roczen had a huge gap on the field.

Roczen led every lap to take the win by 10 second over Tomac. Tomac’s 1-2 score, however, gave the Colorado rider the overall win, with Roczen in second with a 3-1 performance.

Osborne parlayed a 5-3 performance into third overall, with Baggett ending the day in fourth after going 2-8.

"Once you start winning motos and overalls that confidence just builds and builds," said Tomac. "It was great to get the overall, but a little disappointing at the same time because of that second moto. I got a good start in the first moto and thought I had my technique figured out, but I got a little squirrely there [in Moto 2] and got shuffled to the back, so I had to fight. It's really cool to be the last 250 Class winner here at Southwick. This track has always been one I've looked up to and wanted to race at as a little kid."

Roczen maintains control of the 250 Class standings heading into the second half of the season, with Tomac just seven points behind.

"It was really important to get a good start in the second moto and it feels so good to actually do that and have a clear track where I can charge from the beginning," said Roczen. "It definitely did well for me and gave me confidence. I still had some left in me in those last few laps. I'm just super happy."
