Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was discharged from hospital today – one day after the Spaniard underwent surgery to have a plate and 13 screws removed from his right collarbone.
The plate and screws have been in place since surgery following the 2011 French Grand Prix when Pedrosa originally suffered the injury after his collision with Marco Simoncelli.
“I’ve undergone surgery to remove the plate and 13thirteen screws from my right collarbone operation in 2011, which I required as a result of the crash I had that season,” Pedrosa said in a release from his team. “We will have to wait a few days to see how everything develops and, above all, give it a little time. That’s why I chose this break in our schedule to undergo the operation. Now I need to rest up, but I can’t wait to be fully recovered soon”
The surgery was performed by Dr. Xavier Mir at the
Hospital Universitario Quirón Dexeus. Pedrosa has been told to rest for two weeks before starting rehabilitation.
