MEDFORD, OR (September 23, 2013) - Motorcycle Superstore racers were at it again this weekend racking up more class wins and dominating the podiums across the country. It started out on Saturday night in Ontario, California when round three of the GEICO EnduroCross series invaded the Citizen's Business Bank Arena where Cody Webb placed his factory Beta motorcycle on the podium with a solid third place finish. On Sunday, across the country to Foxburg, Pennsylvania for the Car-Mate Gusher GNCC where Andrew DeLong took the XC2 Pro Lites win for the second week in a row and Maria Forsberg proved once again why she is the top off-road women's racer in the country.
The weather on Saturday in Foxburg, PA was perfect, especially if you like pouring rain - which set the stage for a perfect mud race on Sunday. Andrew DeLong was coming off an impressive win in New York two weeks ago and if there is one thing we've learned about DeLong, the tougher the race the better he rides.
"Today it was all about the person who made the least mistakes," Delong said. "It was really technical out there and I had trouble getting into the groove at the beginning but when I started finding my flow, I got my speed up and then I had a good time riding. It was a blast today!"
It was also Maria Forsberg's second class win in as many races and Maria once again dominated the AM race. "I felt like I was back home in Washington," said Maria. "The track was muddy and technical with lots of roots and deep ruts, just like at home. I was excited to race in these conditions.
Motorcycle-Superstore.com rider Kacy Martinez finished second behind Maria but with the class victory, Maria is now back in the points lead and Kacy is in second - 174 to 172 points. With two rounds left, the championship will most likely come down to the last race.
At the EnduroCross on Saturday night, Cody Webb set the second fastest time in the hot lap format which determines the racer's gate pick but admitted he wasn't 100% on his game.
"I had issues with the track all day in Ontario, but right before the main event I got my head in the game and pulled together a solid hot lap and gained a huge confidence boost going into the main. The track was very fast and jumpy with minimal technical sections. I fought hard after the gate dropped and got into the third position where I settled into by the finish. I caught up to the leaders, but with such a simple track it was hard to make up enough time to make any passes by the finish. The bike was awesome and I loved being one of the few two strokes out there on the track ripping it up. I was happy with my finish for my return to the series after the broken foot and I'm looking forward to Denver to try and get my first win."
First overall went to Taddy Blazusiak followed by Mike Brown and then Webb. Motorcycle-Superstore.com support rider Gary Sutherlin finished 7th.
