The X Games are one of the most famous and amazing extreme sports events. They capture the attention of millions of fans thanks in part to the support of ESPN, the largest sports network in the United States.
Official Husqvarna Supermoto rider Ivan Lazzarini will be the first Italian rider to ever race on the US track. On his side, he will have the Belgian "Rooster" Eddy Seel who, in last year's X Games, conquered the second step of the podium.
From August 4-7 the beautiful city of Los Angeles, California, will be the backdrop for the 2005 edition of the X Games, known to all Americans as the most extreme sporting event of the year.
Millions of people will attend the many challenges scheduled for the four day event, including skateboard, freestyle, BMX and motocross contests, united by the adrenaline and suspense that will take the audience's breath away.
Taking part to this event is an honor, as each participant has been invited by the organization to compete. Seel is the current points leader in the S2 Class of the World Supermoto Championship. Lazzarini is in fifth place overall in the S1 Class after four rounds in the series.
Regarding the Supermoto race, the riders will have to deal with a completely different race characterized by a motocross start in the off-road part plus difficult and technical asphalt sections with jumps. Even the race schedule has been redesigned: it is going to be a 45-lap race, with pit stops and tire changes (with no power tools).
The riders will compete together in one class: 450cc, a displacement in which Lazzarini is trying to improve his riding technique in order to be ready for the X Games event. Both Seel and Lazzarini will be competing on Husqvarna SMR450 factory race bikes.
Seel will be right at home in the event since he's the current leader of the 450 (S2) class in the World Supermoto Championship and can't wait to return to the States to once again show his incredible racing talents.
"I want to came back to the X Games because last year was amazing,” Seel said. “The public is great and so was the track. Really awesome, and I had such a good publicity afterwards here in Europe. But this time... no mistakes any more, I want to win. Now I know better how the race will be even with the new rule, which will be more challenging for everybody. It will be a great show, I am sure about that."
