Shane Watts Injured

Australian likely out for ISDE

We have just received word that off-road racer Shane Watts suffered a bad crash, and sustained multiple injuries including broken vertebrae and broken ribs. According to sources, Watts is currently hospitalized, but he also reportedly has feeling in his legs and did not injure his spinal cord.

The following update was posted on www.ShaneWatts.com:

"Thanks for checking in on us and for all of your prayers and kind words. At this point, we are waiting on word from the neurosurgeon about the next stage of treatment. As of now, Shane has three fractured vertebrae, and a fragment of bone seems to have pushed into his spinal column. Three broken ribs and a very sore neck. The great news is that he is able to move his legs and we are hopeful that he will heal completely.

"Doc says he won't ever get back on a bike again, but he doesn't know how stubborn these bike guys are! That's what the doc said the first time he broke his back, and see? He was totally wrong.

"Needless to say, we will not be going to the ISDE on Monday as planned, but will likely remain in the hospital here in Kansas City for some time. Check back for more updates on Shane's progress."
