Friday Flashback 29

A heaping dose of classic Cycle News

For this week's Friday Flashback...

In 1980, Mike Kidd won the first Ascot National TT race aboard a 500cc single in 17 years. The last racer to accomplish such a feat was Dick Mann, in 1963.

At the 1990 Unadilla 250cc Motocross GP, Jeff Stanton successfully defended the United States' honor by winning both motos — his first-ever Grand Prix victories. Although Alessandro Puzar finished sixth overall, he still acquired enough points to seal the deal and earn him the 1990 World Motocross Championship title.

Aaron Yates won both rounds of an AMA Superbike Championship doubleheader at Mid-Ohio — his first two wins of the year.
