Treble Wins Gatornationals

Upsetville

Matco Tools Suzuki rider Craig Treble (center) scored an upset win over reigning NHRA Powerade Pro Stock Bike Champion Angelle Seeling during the Mac Tools Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, today.

Riding a rather innovative motorcycle - which, with all the hype surrounding the debut of the Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod, probably would have gone largely unnoticed if it had not propelled Treble to victory circle – Treble cut a .429 light to outgun Seeling (.454) off the line. He carried that advantage all the way down the track, posting the win with a time of 7.24 seconds at 184.17 mph. Aboard her as of yet unsponsored Star Racing Suzuki, Seeling clocked a losing 7.26 at 184.52 mph. Treble’s margin of victory was a scant 00.039 seconds.

“This is just phenomenal,” Treble said. “For the past three months we have been working so hard, trying to get this bike finished and get it out here. The first time that I rode this bike was last Thursday. That was the 10th pass that I’ve made on it.

“I knew that Angelle was fast, but I never saw her,” Treble said. “I just kept plugging gears, and we put the Matco Tools Suzuki in the winner’s circle.”

Treble’s new Kosman-built chassis departs from that of conventional Pro Stock bike frames in two ways. First, it utilizes an A-arm front fork that is more or less inspired by BMW’s Telelever front suspension system; The design eschews the typical triple clamp. Also, the wheelbase can be moved to and fro to facilitate shifts in weight bias without moving the engine, which utilizes a new oil pan that is essentially a stressed member of the frame.
