It appears that James Stewart got his Kawasaki sorted out for today’s opening round of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Series at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento. In today’s final practice session, Stewart reeled off the quickest lap time in the Motocross class with a 2:19.702, which was nearly two seconds quicker than the next-best time turned in by the defending MX-class champ Ricky Carmichael, who turned in a 2:21.359. Yamaha’s Chad Reed pretty much matched Carmichael’s time with a 2:21.383. Fourth quickest was Honda’s Davi Millsaps, followed by Millsaps' teammate Travis Preston.

In the Lites class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto was the quickest with a 2:23.278, followed by SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Tommy Hahn and Josh Grant. Team Honda’s Andrew Short was fourth quickest, while Villopoto’s teammate Troy Adams was fifth quickest.

However, laps times might not have much meaning when the gate drops for the first Motocross Lites-class moto. Rain has started to fall and the Sacramento area is expecting more rain through out the day. Luckily, the rain is light...so far.
