HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2011) -- Kyle Peters stopped the Justin Bogle juggernaut in the final day of the 30th Annual AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Amsoil, at the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Peters and Bogle had a nail-biting battle on Saturday that went to the wire. On the line was the 250 A class title, arguably the most desirable crown in the championships. With a victory and second-place finish each, the formula was simple for both Peters and Bogle - go out and win the third and final moto of the week and take home the national title. Peters, 16, of Greensboro, N.C., came out swinging taking the holeshot on his Triangle Cycles/Star Racing Yamaha. He opened a bit of a gap on the field and when the dust settled it was Bogle running second on his Factory Connection/Amsoil Honda. In the final few laps Bogle put on a furious charge. He closed the gap on Peters until on the last lap the two ran nose to tail bringing the crowd to their feet. Peters stayed solid under the relentless pressure. He didn't put a wheel wrong and crossed the finish line a bike length ahead of Bogle. It was a fitting end to a great battle between two of the most promising young motocross riders in the nation.
"I knew he was there, I could hear his motor," said Peters on the last-lap charge by Bogle. "I was under serious pressure that's for sure. I pushed as hard as I could without going over the edge. Fortunately I made everything clean in those last few sections. I was never so excited to see a checkered flag."Pro fans will get an opportunity very soon to see both Peters and Bogle. Both are slated to make their pro debut next week in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship round next week at Unadilla.Adam Cianciarulo, of Port Orange, Florida, wrapped up his second national title taking victory in the Super Mini 2 (13-16) over Jordon Smith. Cianciarulo raced a Monster Energy Kawasaki.Clark Stiles continued to be the Vet rider of the week taking the win over Robbie Reynard to earn the overall championship in the Junior 25 Plus. The championship came to a close with Chris Brice taking the final checkered flag, winning the Vet B/C 30 Plus moto and overall.
