The following is from WERA...WERA Motorcycle Roadracing was at Roebling Road outside of Savannah, GA over the March 12/13/14 weekend and dealt with Mother Nature who while giving us cold, wind and some rain could not deter the fierce competition over the weekend. The Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance scheduled for 4 hours on Saturday saw new teams who quickly picked up how to put it on the podium at a Bridgestone/WERA Endurance. The #3 Team Zyvax 2 on their Yamaha 1000 took the top spot with riders Ben Bostrom and Chris Clark, second was the #21 Hooters/Apex 2 Team of Tim Birdsong and James Rispoli on a Suzuki 600 and third went to #7 Zyvax Racing Team with riders Dane Westby and Clinton Seller on their Yamaha 600. #89 Faith on Wheels Racing took the Lightweight Superbike win on their SuzSV650 with riders Wrenn Smith, Chad Hinton and Lance Yeager. The Trophy Class win went to #888 V7 All Stars with riders Ken Johnson, Scott Lindsay and Barry Pailes on their Honda CBR600F3.Sunday was to be sunny and temperatures in the 60s but Mother Nature had another idea, how about cloudy and winds in the 15 knot range all day. She couldn't stop the action in the Michelin National Sprints combined with the Pirelli Sportsman Series for this round. The two premier classes saw some of the hottest contests for the top honors. Ben Solis on his Graves Yamaha600 fought a hard battle with a five rider pack for all 12 laps to come out on top, Abraham Stacey on his Suzuki 600 took second and Payton Sassaman on his Yamaha 600 took third, rounding out the top five were Garrett Gerloff on his Suzuki 600 and then Jimmy Merck on his Suzuki 600. The new WERA Superbike Class which has American Honda support both in contingency and in a lucrative Championship bonus saw the two CBR1000s of Tim Bemisderfer and Brian Stokes challenge the big Suzuki of Tim Hunt. Hunt was able to hold off Stokes who clinched 2nd and Bemisderfer took the final podium spot. Scott Carpenter and Chad Dupree on their Suzuki 1000s round out the top five. This class looks to be a very competitive class for 2010 and as more machines joins the battle it will become one to keep an eye on.Make sure to catch this action in Visual Media by signing up with MotoConnect.net so you can visit MotoConnect.tv for free and view the action from Round #1!For all other results from this past weekend you can visit MyLaps.com or visit the WERA Motorcycle Roadracing website at www.wera.com.Round #2 will be coming to you at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Talladega, AL over the April 9/10/11 weekend.
