Gregory Junod of Switzerland and Gregg Black of Great Britain rode the Maco Racing Team Yamaha R1 to fifth place in the 8 Hours of Albacete, the second round of the FIM World Endurance Championship.Pridmore and friends completed 301 laps of the 2.2-mile track to score their first points of the season.
The trio finished five laps behind the race-winning BMW Motorrad France 99 team, which completed 306 laps and beat the Yamaha Racing France GMT 94 Ipone team by 31.339 seconds Frenchman Sébastien Gimbert, Hugo Marchand, and Erwan Nigon shared the riding chores on the winning team's S1000RR.The Suzuki Endurance Race team (S.E.R.T.) of Vincent Philippe, Freddy Foray, and Daisaku Sakai finished third, a lap down on first and second, after serving a stop and go penalty for not switching off the bike's lights during a pit stop.Still, by finishing third they maintain the championship points lead by two, 54-52, over BMW Motorrad France 99 after two of six rounds.The series now has a more than two-month break before the next round, the July 31 Suzuka 8-Hours in Japan.
